I saw a brilliant looking kettle in my local supermarket the other month; Transparent sides and with changing lights depending on the stages of heat/boiling.

Kettles take the piss, no matter what the brand, how much you pay or where you get them from, the lid or on/off switch will break a week after 1,2,3 warranty. If not it'll somehow start slowing down. If it wasn't for the price and install bother I'd get a quooker.
