Most people think of a Velociraptor as being this 6ft tall, 15ft long bipedal dromeosaur like depicted in Jurassic Park... however, Velociraptor was in truth the size of a large turkey or medium sized dog... the Jurassic Park 'raptor' was actually based on a North American dromeosaurid called Deinonychus... but 'raptor' is easier to say, romanticise and cooler to say....

So a Hollywood choice was made. However, 'raptor' is a term to describe the genus of dinosaur so there's some loose ambiguity surrounding it.

Random fact for you all

I like all of them. Dinosaurs are amazing and paleontology has always fascinated me from a young age. Even before Jurassic Park!

But if I absolutely had to choose a favourite, then it would be Deinonychus (what JP based their "Raptors" on). A very, very close second is the King of Dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Always favoured the carnivorous over the others, but they're all special in their own way.

Archeopteryx and sarcosucus, which is just a big ol' crocodile. A big ol' crocodile with teeth as big as a man's forearm.

I'm a little salty that I can't have a pet archeopteryx. Would be way cooler than a budgie or even a parrot.

Aslong as I can have the micro raptor, archeopteryx are awsome aswell

Used to hate troodons from one game and one game alone, but there so cool too.
