York Dogging warning!!!!
Jump to: Newest in thread
Just received a panicked phone call from a good mate, he was out at a well known place. He parked near a couple in 56 plate Fiesta.
He got out of car and see what he could see thru the bushes, he could tell they were looking at him.
He glanced from side to side to see if anyone else was near him. When he looked towards then he saw a camera phone flash.
I said probably disgruntled locals, not sure tho, could have been the Police, if so what could they charge him with. He reckons they will have seen his distinctive number plate!
Worrying! |

If the area is open to the public that can't charge him with anything. It's not a crime to look at a couple in a car. What the police tend to do is write to wherever the car is registered saying "your car was seen in this area and the driver was acting suspiciously/should te car have been there" and see if it causes problems for the driver. It is only an issue if the car is a company car or the wife's. They probably can't be arsed to do anything. |

He was hoping for fun, I've seen couples there myself. Said definately taking pic of him lookin at them.
It's a notorious place. You will know it wryd.
If was police it seems an awfully large effort to go to not to act! |

That will be fun if his boss or wife opens the post.....
Was he meant to be at work when he was 'snapped?' |

I'm still baffled why anyone would park in a well known place and take a pic of a guy looking through the bushes at them.
What would they want to do with the photo? |

He's a mess the sensitive soul, am meeting him in pub soon to try and calm him down.
I reckon it was just some disgruntled natives trying to frighten him away.
It worked
The police would have nailed him there and then

"??"
Nailing is another term for being shagged hard.
If your friend hadn't got any of his bits out and he wasn't at work then tell him to try not to worry.as he hasn't done anything wrong. In my last job which was quite a long way away from nottingham I often used to eat my lunch at a local beauty spot if it was a nice day only to discover to my horror that it was a well known dogging spot! |

i'd say worst case scenario even if he was airing his veg, he can say he was caught short and needed a pee behind a bush - and then was shocked and disgusted by nosy bystanders attempting to take indecent photos of his genitalia using a smart-phone - hes the victim here if you ask me.

Maybe the couple in the car weren't local and didn't know it was a dogging spot.
They may have just stopped for some private, one to one, rumpy pumpy and noticed a 'Peeping Tom' in the bushes.
The camera may well have been to dissuade him or scare him off.
In either case it worked.

I feel for the poor bloke! I agree if it had been our friends in blue the most likely outcomes would have been to be questioned on the spot or the dreaded letter. As he has not had to deal withbthe former (phew) he should take some comfort that his car is likely to be registered to a fleet company or his own company, so that will be where the letter goes if one is ever sent. So best advice is to use his time thinking catefully about a convincing and innocent explanation as to why he was there....... and with a bit of luck his Mrs won't have a rude awakening! |

I was at a dogging spot with a couple of friends.. They were in the back.
I got my small torch out to look for my drink on the passenger floor and next thing this loony is trying to ram us!
He was asking why I was taking pics.. I said it was a torch altho I couldn't find the thing in the dark and worry.. Said my phone don't even have a flash!
So I guess it happens in a lot of places and I think its normally through people who go there to wind the doggers up |

I'd tend to agree with the above.
If he has got away with it this time has he learnt a valuable lesson? Or does the clock just get reset?
I'm not judging anyone here but with a lot of things I do wonder if people are sorry they did it or sorry they got caught?
For the record I'm not siding with the girls here and saying he deserved to be caught, just that he knew the risk.

one of the reasons I won't go dogging.
There is no legal expectation of privacy in a public place + only the most clueless or deliberate will use a naff smartphone with a flash...
any digital camera with the IR filter removed will pull good quality images in apparent complete darkness, since it is a public place no privacy was invaded, just upload to xhamster of whatever and there it is in perpetuity. |

Take a picture of a guy behind bushes 20ft away with a smartphone and then drive off. Not confront?
I think it was disgruntled locals. |

You could have told him to man the fuck up and get a grip of himself. (of course if he had a grip of himself he may be in trouble!)
Police don't pose as doggers to catch people out, that's arse gravy. They do Hi-viz patrols to discourage it. It was most likely locals and they thought it was a laugh to freak him out. If you're that scared about your reputation, don't go dogging for fuck sake! At least not locally in a distinctive car.
Common sense????? |

I have not been dogging for years now; but three things;
1. The police know all dogging/sex lay-by in UK - so its no surprise they could have been here
2. Unless someone exposes themselves; they are fine - just be an embarrassing "hello what you doing here " or as is quiet common these days "Hello sir; did you know this lay-by is used by Homosexuals etc etc"
3. Don't go dogging in lay-by lol
Mind you there is a thrill in it still lol ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I think he's calmed down now.
Thinking about it I think they were just getting rid if him by putting the fear of God up him.

I'm even more baffled by the fact they expected to get a pic with the phone flash on. The range on them things will drop off after about 3m if yer lucky!
Unless he was standing only a cars length away I doubt the pic will be anything more than a back-lit silhouette of the treeline. |

Conversely they could have been innocently sat there in their car eating a sarnie, when they get freaked out by some weirdo peeking through the bushes at them. You never know, the pic was maybe used to report your friend. |

Tbh, phone flashes might well be more powerful than I remember, but unless you were shooting the same same scene, under the same lighting, and at the same distance etc, the results are non-comparable.
It's not the window (that's just the angle at which you shoot), it's the way basic cameras (and their users) use their evaluative metering systems to expose for the scene.
I won't bore you all with the whetherto's and whyfore's, as even my comment was just a muse. I really don't know the OP's exact situation and environmental conditions (otherwise I could dissect it for you), and besides, nobody likes a public geeking-off!
Just sayin', like. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Is your friend definitely sure they took a pic of him? |

Guess the bottom line is:
Don't do things you're not supposed to,
Don't use a company/wife's car for anything improper'
Don't be places your not supposed to be.
Be prepared to take the consequences...
I'm quite confident it's not your mate, but the poster...

"Taken their photo and advised them of the errors of their ways and asked them to fuck off in no uncertain terms!"
In the very grey area of dogging, I'd say that the person fumbling in his pants while looking through the bushes is probably the one that needs to fuck off!
It is possible that a couple may have stopped there for a break and found some guy leering at them through the undergrowth. Unlikely but possible. |

I do wonder how many doggers regularly 'lose their keys', and are still in the bushes looking for them after dark.
Well, I guess if they dropped them in the car park it wouldn't take anywhere nearly as long to find them. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Yes, this is another peril for the adventurous swashbuckling dogger. But again a solution is on hand. I often go for my regular dog with my entire body wrapped head to toe in tin foil and an assortment of small mirrors (beauty compacts and rearview work best) taped to my face. This will reflect any camera flash instantly and the resulting pic will only give the impression that the occupants of the car are being ambushed by a member of DaftPunk. You can never be too careful.... |

Non-consensual voyuerism is an offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 but that usually requires an expectation of privacy...then again (potentially) so is engaging in sexual acts in a public place, so the couple would be unlikely to report him if caught in flegrante delicto!
The worst case is that he happened upon a couple having a chat and exposed himself...which could land him in trouble under the SOA or for outraging public decency.
If he didn't expose himself then he will, I imagine, be ok as being inept isn't (currently) illegal
