Despite they’re commonly cited name of the so called, Fainting Goat (the breed is called Myotonic), said goats don’t actually really ‘faint’ in the strictest sense of the word at all when startled.
When surprised or else overly exited, the said goats muscles DO however freeze to such an extent as to render the goat entirely immobile whereupon the poor sod may subsequently topple over in an apparent fainting like manner although they are entirely conscious during this time......and likely, additionally mightily embarrassed by such a public display |

In addition to bleating, goats are also very well known for.......burping.
Boasting four stomachs, much wind is inevitably produced (consumed vegetation fermenting inside said stomachs) and much like many males in the human race who will spend many years learning and cultivating the ancient and sacred art form, goats too have perfected the fine art of releasing the built up gas as a loud and glorious belch |

Ha ha! - Our wedding will sound like Paul McCartney’s Frog Chorus......but louder....and possibly with the rancid smell of recently consumed (but now very much rotting!) vegetation |

"Keep them safe in India where they are known to be targeted for non consensual gang bangs
Damn! That explains why some of the poor things have evolved to ‘faint’ "

Yes, finally bowing to the overwhelming pressure from the literal scores of requests from absolutely no one, I do hereby resurrect the goat thread!
I recently had an epiphany and decided that my new favourite variety is the Toggenburg goat which hails from Switzerland
Anyway, what wondrous stories have you all collated since this thread was last up relating to these most intriguing of creatures?
Do you own a goat?
Have you recently eaten Feta cheese perhaps?
Maybe you have a relative who closely resembles a goat (a hircine uncle or aunt perhaps?)
Anything goat related will be more than welcome |

Did you know also that a female goat giving birth is actually said to be, ‘Kidding’? (Really, I’m not kidding either) |

"They are fun to stare at. "
He he - That was a fantastic movie and.....wait for it......was apparently, based (loosely) upon actual facts(!!!)
The experiment and programme depicted was relayed to British journalist Jon Ronson who initially divulged the details in the series, ‘The Crazy Rulers Of The World’. Well worth checking out. I’d like to report that no goats were harmed but apparently in one instance, a soldier did actually manage to stop the poor creatures heart beating by some form of psychic assault |

His name crops up fairly frequently in relation to unorthodox and secretive governmental experiments such as remote viewing etc. I’ll check that one out. Thank you |

Did you know that goats are credited with the discovery of coffee?
The story goes that many, many moons ago goat herders initially observed their goats becoming somewhat animated whilst chewing on coffee beans which led them to investigate how the beans would affect themselves.... |

One of the biggest misconceptions regarding goats is that they will chomp on literally anything (hence the inception of such sayings as, ‘Gut like a goat’ etc)
In fact goats are very fussy eaters and will even refuse to eat food off of the ground or not completely fresh in many instances.
Having said this, goats WILL happily ‘taste test’ virtually anything before spitting it out however. |

The image of the humble goat has historically held many connotations with some occult orders and practices.
The Knights Templar for instance, were falsely accused of worshipping the goat god, Baphomet (amongst other crimes) in a multi faceted conspiracy manufactured against them in order to discredit them and remove their powers in the early 14th century.
Jump forward to the 20th century and the founder of the Church Of Satan, Anton LaVey, made a point to employ the traditional inverted pentagram icon with the goats head (again representing Baphomet) within it (the horns, ears and chin corresponding to the cardinal points within the symbol) as a sigil for his order.
The aforementioned specific symbol however, dates back far further than the inception of the church in 1966.
In fact, back to at least 1897 where it initially features in the book, ‘La Clef de la Magie Noire’ by Stanislas de Guaita.
Ramble....ramble.....etc |
