"If you make a birthday cake for someone, what type would it be and why?"
I promise this isn't a copout answer, but it would entirely depend on who I was making the cake for, because that would define what types of cake they do and don't like. |

"Historian sponge. Because sometimes simple is best! "
I just googled this because I’d never heard of it before. Then my brain kicked in and realised it was a little typo and you mean’t Victorian Sponge.

"A rainbow cake with LOADS of buttercream inside it.
No idea how to make it but that’s what Google is for right?! "
I made a 6-layer rainbow cake for a Bake-Off competition where I used to work. Was a bit of a faff, but well worth the effort. |

I tend to make meringues, either a pavlova or a lemon meringue pie for grown ups. Kids cakes whatever they're latest obsession is, last one I made was a tiger cake where the cake was orange, black and white and covered in green icing with a tiger on top. |

I made for the very first time a Victoria sponge cake
In fact two - the first one is in the front lawn as a stepping stone
Oddly the history of the Victoria sponge was down to the invention of self raising flour !!! No cream , has to be raspberry filling and granulated sugar dusting
Oh Mrs Beeton published the recipe for the first time in her first book !
Anyone asleep yet ? 😇😬💤

Carrot, maybe lemon drizzle. As a keen cyclist I'm often faced with coffee and cake at a cafe, but to be honest, nearly all cake looks better than it tastes. On the plate it's great, but sadly disappointing when you eat it |

"...but to be honest, nearly all looks better than it tastes. On the plate it's great, but sadly disappointing when you eat it
Still talking about cake, right??! "
Some years back I was visiting a client site for work having lunch with a colleague, talking about the usual nonsense, I bought a portion of cheesecake for dessert, just ordinary looking cheesecake and bit into it.
In mid Sentence I let out an mmmmmmmmmmmm!
Wow, it looked ordinary but was the best damn cheesecake I'd ever tasted.
Sometimes things look good and are disappointing to taste, sometimes just sometimes an ordinary looking bit of food just blows your mind. |

"Buy one at Asda job done
if I wanted it to taste like cardboard - not just Asda, all supermarkets - I would "
Fresh cake is just something else, especially with fresh cream.
Beats biscuits hands down in my book |

"I'd ask what they wanted.
I've done a Kinder themed one; a fresh strawberries and cream Victoria sponge; a bakewell one; a lemon drizzle, and a couple of cheesecakes.
"
This was a surprise. So I went with variations on what I knew they liked |
