I like your thinking but I can't help but think;
1. I can't get it in my face quick enough with just a spoon let alone faffing with a fork
2. Unnecessary pots

I notice nobody uses a knife to make sections..so everyone on here eats a whole one in one go( or sitting if your posh)
...does this also apply to
chocolate cake ,coffee cake, angel cake ,madeira cake ,Christmas cake birthday cake and and battenburg cake..?
( we take your answers very seriously) .. |

I eat desserts with a spoon, whereas my husband does so with a fork - yes, even ones with custard.
He's of Yorkshire extraction, and I', from the Saaaaff, so not sure if this is a Watford-Gap type divide. |

Who eats liquid with a fork!? What's that all about.
Chop sticks would be as useful. |

"If I use a spoon I use my right hand and if I use a fork I use my right hand.
Two right hands?
I eat with my right hand I guess, what hand do you use for your spoon and fork?."
Spoon right fork left |

I've given the matter a lot of thought since seeing the topic yesterday.
To say that you can't deal with sauce/cream with a fork is piffle. It is not like trying to fork soup or water. The edge of a fork can clean a plate quite easily.
I agree with a previous poster who said it depends on whether it is in public or private. I would always use a fork in a restaurant. Most probably would do the same at home, out of habit.
However, as a lightweight camper of many years' experience, I use a dessert spoon a heel of a lot as a universal eating tool, a lot of the time it an do many tasks expected of a knife.
However, as pointed out, cheesecake should not be shoveled down in huge spoonfuls so when camping I would not overload the spoon! |
