I’ve had it since Monday. Test showed up bright red bar within about 20 seconds, yesterday’s test pale red line after 10 mins… apart from heavy cold like symptoms and feeling sleepy no real issues. This is round 4, only really bad symptoms I’ve ever had was pre jab round 1.

If they're eligible, it's worth doing a search for venues that will provide it, as appointment availability varies a lot.

Otherwise, flu vaccination is a great move, in preparation for the winter flu season. It's more widely available too.

If you encounter staff in businesses that appear unwell but working - speak with management about their sick pay rules. I'd avoid organisations not helping to protect their staff and customers, by having effective sick pay regimes.

I thought id take a look at the death figures for the UK back at the year 2020. According to the office Of National Statistics in September 2020, the so called year 1 of Covid 36,707 people passed away in England and Wales (this was a perfectly normal figure for the time of year, no excess deaths compared to previous years despite an apparently deadly disease being present forcing everyone to wear a piece of cloth over their face and stand 2 metres apart), in september this year, with no pandemic whatsoever a whopping 49,327 have people passed away, thats an extra 12, 620 excess deaths in just one month! No wonder ONS have announced they are no longer supplying monthly data! Google ONS all cause deaths for september 2020 and the weekly deaths for september 2023.

No pandemic BUT covid has and will remain with us.

As for deaths stats, it is likely (I haven't looked into this) that covid on the certificate was for auditing purposes. The audit should have three factors:

1. Was covid present at death?

2. Was covid known to be a contributing factor in the death?

3. Was death caused by covid.

A format for any pandemic.

Without this information, the stats will be accused of being massaged.

The pandemic is over and so I assume death certs, will go back to how they were.

Any reason you picked those months ? Instead say comparing April 2020 to April 2023? In September 2020 the country was in lockdown. Lockdowns while a pain in the butt do reduce deaths, including deaths from things like flu, road accidents, homicide and yes covid.

If only that was true. Flu can kill up to 25000 people a year in the UK. Whilst flu was low during lockdown, lockdown and hygiene measures reduce all respiratory viruses not just covid, since we have reopened society flu has come back with a bang and has sadly killed many people.

I thought there had been a Flu vaccine for decades now, with most over 65's being vaccinated annually and children under 10 being vaccinated annually. The introduction of the Flu vaccines in the UK reduced the annual number of deaths attributed to Flu by about 50%.

I’m caring for some frail, elderly relatives.

I don’t want to take something to their house which could kill them.

They’re very keen on protecting themselves, and see the vaccines as a means to do so.

"Well at least no one has had the flu in the UK since covid .

not true. I've had the flu and so have several of my friends. I did 8 covid tests, all negative Don't kid yourself that the flu has gone.there is also a nasty chest infection doing the rounds. The GP told me this one can last up to 10 weeks, "

I took the post to be sarcasm. Of course flu is still around.

After contracting the virus doing the whole holiday airport fandango it was mild, uncomfortable 36hr main suffering, heavy head, cough, very sore joints and fatigue meaning an extra week off doing bugger all. Worst thing was I couldn't get a stiffy for 4 days which really freaked me out??

Now it's back to hands face, space for me in public and when with the vulnerable.

"Well at least no one has had the flu in the UK since covid .

If only that was true. Flu can kill up to 25000 people a year in the UK. Whilst flu was low during lockdown, lockdown and hygiene measures reduce all respiratory viruses not just covid, since we have reopened society flu has come back with a bang and has sadly killed many people.

never had a lockdown for a particularly bad flu season,or "expert" Ferguson predicting half a million (the only number he knows, even cattle in foot and mouth outbreaks, disastrously wrong,no surprise)will die,or a fanatical flu vaccine campaign."

We have had a flu vaccination drive every winter for years, we still lose around 25,000 people a year to it every year.

However Flu and covid are different if you read up on it. There is nearly a quarter of a million dead up to now, can you imagine if we hadn't tried to surpress the virus how many there would have been. The figure he quoted may have been too low, who knows

I know there were cock ups along the way but this was a pandemic and I am not sure why people seem to dismiss trying to save others from dying.

I read that biased research (biased because it was sponsored by a producer of vit k2), however, even they admit research is required to see if k2 and D improve clinical outcomes of Covid.

It's easy to Google food that has k2 within, rather than relying on a company that wants to increase its sales.

Vit D deficiency is due to lack of sunshine in the winter months. There isn't a vit D supplier who needs to promote their product as evidence does it anyway.

If the reseacher is biased by funding or not there is an inate bias on which research is being funded and what isn't. That bias is towards what will be profitable and not always towards proveing or disproveing what may be cheap and effective for improving national heath.

Flu has killed far more people than covid and will carry on doing do, 2 million worldwide die from flu every year yet no lock downs masks or standing 2 metres apart to combat it...why?

Covid was cleverly used as a control thing by governments yet was the least deadly pandemic of all time unlike big killers like the flu.

Flu and covid are similar flu virus which naturally mutate and either get stronger or weaker, nothing was done or put in place for swine flu avian flu and half a dozen other similar flu viruses unlike covid again...why.

The Spanish flu wiped out 30 million in a couple of years and was only ever topped by the plague (another flu virus) yet no measures were put in place after even though the flu is one of our most lethal killers.

No one believed the great fire of London started in a Bakery and amazingly it was the slums that burnt down where a new plague virus had started, for years the then government wanted that land for rebuilding...politics and pandemics work when it's convenient.

Where do I start?

1. Only when we get a novel flu virus will the flu cause a lockdown. The govt had supposedly done some prep for the next pandemic thinking it would be thus.

2. The Corona virus pandemic, its fatality percentage was not known at the beginning (hindsight is shit reasoning for wondering why certain strategies were taken when fatality hovered around 1%), and even with such a low %, with high exposure and no immunity, models predicted large numbers of death. They weren't wrong. It was always a number's game, never percentage.

3. Flu is a flu virus, covid is a Corona virus.

4. You mention swine and avian flu - they never reached pandemic proportions.

5. The plague was not a flu virus. It wasn't any type of virus, it was a bacterium.

I'm guessing that fact checking isn't something that you're especially fond of

Covid is a type of coronavirus, which we've known since the first week of 2020 . Totally unrelated to any of the varied types of flu viruses.

And the Great Plague of London was a bacterial infection. Just for extra clarity, that infection was not a flu virus, largely because it wasn't even a virus

Patients are no longer routinely tested for covid and unless specific requested autopsies do not asses for Covid. So there is an easy argument that these non Covid deaths may actually be Covid deaths. As I say cherry picking

Nearly every developed Nation around the world are seeing significant numbers on 'non' Covid related excess deaths. As I've pointed out on another thread, the fact that this isn't being discussed by the Governments,Media and health authorities should be a concern.

But as always on this forum paranoia sets in with many of the posters and they start to think any kind of discussion must be in the form of 'anti-vax', it isn't !

So there is no data for excess deaths by vaccination status.

It makes perfect sense that there would be excess deaths post pandemic for a myriad of reasons.

A big factor is an access to care due to waiting lists and a backlog caused by Covid related factors.

Secondly the long term effects of Covid secondary to infection are unknown, it’s not unknown for viruses to cause secondary issues months and even years down the line, which could account for this. More will be known then the 5 year figures are realised from the vaccinated and unvaccinated cohort.

Now you're starting to see what I'm getting at,however, I did think my little exercise proved a point in how people are routinely attacked on here for raising an issue.

Yes, I strongly believe the reasons why this isn't being discussed (especially in this country)

is because it will expose the fundamental problems caused to the NHS by this utterly rotten Government.

I'd suggest getting checked out, seeing things that really aren't there could be a sign of something serious.

Touché but we thought your appreciate it being a cherry picker

So you're insinuating there isn't huge numbers of non Covid excess deaths?

Patients are no longer routinely tested for covid and unless specific requested autopsies do not asses for Covid. So there is an easy argument that these non Covid deaths may actually be Covid deaths. As I say cherry picking

What are you actually going on about?

Nearly every developed Nation around the world are seeing significant numbers on 'non' Covid related excess deaths. As I've pointed out on another thread, the fact that this isn't being discussed by the Governments,Media and health authorities should be a concern.

But as always on this forum paranoia sets in with many of the posters and they start to think any kind of discussion must be in the form of 'anti-vax', it isn't !

Are you vaccinated?

Whether I'm vaccinated or not is irrelevant, and again, I sense you're using that question to back up your nonsensical argument..

Breath friend,breath

It’s very valid as it gives an insight into your framing bias.

Paranoid assumptions again..

Please do explain what my bias is because I have absolutely no idea what it may be

Was this you?

“ The jabbed are dropping like flies now”

^^Rather a pathetic response really wasn't it,and uncalled for.

If you care to read that initial comment again (which I misinterpreted the op)

My response mentioned 'non' Covid excess deaths data. Does that clear it up?

Are you happy now or are you going to continue with your game of black and white?

Why are you unable to answer a direct question with a yes or a no.

Did you say

“The jabbed are dropping like flies now”

It’s a simple yes or no. No need to obstructive

No apology for getting it so very wrong then?

Didn't think so. "

Perhaps they’re not on line? Just a thought

"The jabbed are dropping like flies now.

Would you like to provide proof of that?

And NOT in my inbox.

Try the ONS or every Offical Government site from around the world..

Even the WHO has published data on non Covid excess deaths.. But hey I guess they are all wrong eh?

No doubt a Ben houchen/Jacob young/steve turner fan!

And why would you say that?

I didn't ask how natural immunity is built up! I asked the poster his opinion to which YOU cannot respond!

With the majority of adults having been vaccinated, at least once, it stands to reason there's a correlation with getting covid. It's a numbers game.

A wee girl upstairs from me has had it 6 times! Course she is out every night. I had it once when it first came out. Both are vaxed lol. I have my flu and booster next Monday but after reading Astrogenica have paid out over £400 million in compensation to peeps it does not inspire confidence.

I'm sure AZ has been discontinued.

I'm fairly sure it's not part of the UK booster programmes today
