Define "rough" play OP - there's a pretty broad spectrum right there - rough for some might be the occasional spank during sex, but for others could be the full whips, chains and dungeon delights of the BDSM world  |

Yes rough play is a spectrum of degrees. Not sure it is the same as BDSM or at least not as i practise BDSM.
Rough play is more degrading and name calling and delibarate pain. BDSM invloves pain but a very controled type and specifically designed to bring pleasure.
Rough sex is less controlled and more animalistic. Guttral and selfish (thats not always a bad thing) rough sex where neither is dom and both are greedy can be great raw and lustful. In a Dom Sub style there are risks if not very skilled. |

This is a very old fashions and quite offensive premise.
It goes back to days when men cheating was acceptable. That it was considered that some girls are marriage material and some are just for fucks.
