Diets are crap.... by a bicycle..... you will lose weight, firm up and can still eat pretty much what you like

Just try little things like cutting down on sweet things. Increase veg and fruit. But still have treat days.

"I need to lose weight gone up two dress sizes which diets would you say are the best. I do have a sweet tooth as well ."

I've been doing no white carbs, and cut out junk and fizzy drinks and lost 8lbs now in two weeks. I was dubious about it as I have a really sweet tooth too, but not a morsel of chocolate has passed my lips and I really don't miss it.

I have upped my fruit intake I think that's probably helped with my sugar cravings. Oh and I aim to drink 2-3 litres of water too.

Oh and try to see it as more living healthier than a diet, diets are temporary and when it stops the weight returns.

You will also feel better if you increase veg and drink plenty of water. Really improves energy levels, just try it for a week and see if it makes any difference. Good luck

Get rid of the word diet from your vocabulary.

Call it lifestyle change, change of eating habits, anything but 'diet'.

I've never paid to lose weight. I downloaded my fitness pal app. I stick to 1200 calories a day and I've lost 1 stone 9lbs in 3 months. It's mostly just eating sensibly and logging everything you eat.

We both started slimming world in July and between the two of us we have so far lost five stones.

There is something to be said for it not being a diet but a change of lifestyle. We have maintained the healthy lifestyle and now it is just the norm.

Good luck with it, you will feel much better

Horses for courses, but Slimming World works for me too - 2 stone off in my first 4 months & it’s not a diet, it’s an eating plan, so it gives you room for nice stuff & treats too

Yes. Just reducing your calorie intake works too. But that's free. I can also cook the same for the family.

Im to lazy to count calories to be honest. Being able to eat unlimited free foods worked for me as I like to eat at least every 2hrs. But we are all different in how we achieve our goals

I was merely giving an alternative as everyone was claiming slimming world was the way to go. It's a business at the end of the day. They don't want people to lose weight and keep it off because then they wouldn't make any money. Everyone I know that joins any of these plans joins, loses weight. stops going. Puts it back on and then joins again.

To be honest, just buying a bike won't help (apart from having less money for food). Riding a bike for 4-5 hours a week would make a big difference though... or any other exercise for a similar amount of time.

I use “the diet plate” which ian portion control via markings on a plate and bowl. With minimal calorie counting and as much salad and fruit (except bananas) as you like. The first couple of days can be hard due to hunger pangs but I have lost weight even over Christmas and I ate a bit of pretty much a bit everything on the tables

I do weight watchers no count and have followed it for a few years - sometimes i slip off the way of eating and put a bit of weight back on - then i get back on it again. Finally in the last 6 months i've accepted that this is a way of life for me forever.

I eat wholewheat carbs, lean meat, minimal fats, and most of all no processed crap... I also satisfy my sweet tooth with no worries (currently have a low point healthy trifle in the fridge for tomorrow's pud with the other half).

My gp says i have the cholesterol of someone who manages it with medication - however i don't take meds. My bloods are great & i feel great. 1.5 - 2 more stone and _ilmissplumpy is going to be where she wants to be weight & health wise..

I'm on a diet too I have lost 4st since i started in September. I just eat 1 meal a day and I can have a full meal of anything. They say people are designed to just eat 1 full meal a day anyway and only the age we live in gives us the 3 meal a day ideals. You burn more cals in the day so on a empty belly you just burn fat store.

don't buy processed foods, cook everything from scratch , and have a decent walk every day, it wont be an instant fix , but in a few months you will notice and feel the difference

We use this simple philosophy

Calories = Weight

Nutrition = Health

To control weight long term you have to control your calories - be that SW, 5:2, more excercise to up your calorie limit, etc - whichever way works best for you.

Given you only have so many calories available to be consumed make sure everything that goes into your mouth earns its place nutritionally as part of a balanced diet. Say to yourself each time 'does this deserve to go into my body?'. For example a raw carrot yes (calories with nutrition), a supermarket cake no (calories without nutrition).

Also, keeping a food diary can be very revealing.

I've been with a dietician for 2 months from the start I was advised to eat 3 balanced meals a day carbs protein and fruit or veg but not to change portion size no snacks between meals n no fizzy drinks but the most important bit is no drink with any meal drink half n hour before a meal n then a hour after. I've lost a stone n to date have never been hungry between meals.

Good luck op x
