Doesn't take long for the subject to go so off topic that it's completely rubbish...
Are people trying to show how witty they are?
Have they nothing of interest to really add?
They just have to say something?
Anything is fair game?
I can do as I want, so I will!
Any other theories as to why? |

many of the topics are serious as to how people think but personally i love a good debate and a bit of mental stimulation as to how they think

On a serious note i think people will read a topic and because of different factors mainly based on their experience they will have a different reply. Then to the reply everyone will react differently...its just a bit like chinese whispers i suppose |

However what is annoying is when two or three people start ping ponging in mutual admiration and hijack the thread.
If they're that struck on each other why not send a private message and sort out a meet?

Because we can, we do, it's called inane banter, it's better than sitting in the pub all evening, cus it pisses some people off, cus it makes us laugh, cus it gives us an indication of what people are really like, cus we all have something to say......... and if we didn't.... the forums would be as boring as soaking lentils!

Just would be nice if say, support and advice, could kept om topic as such. Maybe the lounge topics can be anything and inane and tosh bandied around galore, where people can show their witty banter and thoughts etc.

It pretty much follows the pattern of an everyday conversation that you would hold, say in the pub or at work.
When was the last time you held a 'real life' conversation that never varied from the original topic ?
I'd bet my next weeks pay that the answer is 'never' |
