I just realized something: when I manage to chat with someone on fab, 90% of the time it is because the person got in touch with me first...
The messages I send to establish a contact tend to get deleted, ignored, etc. (it's not another rant about how hard it is to be a single man here, don't worry  )
So the question is: Am I that bad in writing messages??  |

Yeah, what I meant was way clearer in my mind.... Oh well, I've got an answer at least

You might just not be wanted by those who you are after. Those that are after you are obviously contacting you |

A lot of couples will delete pretty much 95% of the mail they receive (ok, i' m talking about us here)
But, if we like the look of someone, we will get in touch and it tens to lead to more meetings (go figure)
So, i would suggest that you aren't THAT bad at writing messages, but cute enough to warrant people getting in touch with you |

Yeah, of course.... The OP was more a way to ask some advices about how to write a good introduction message!
Usually, I introduce myself briefly, and try to talk about what I read in their profile.

Honestly, I don't take it to heart at all: I know very well how it works on here...
I only want to put all the chances on my side and I think it would be a shame for me (and the people I get in touch with) to miss some good fun just because my first messages are a bit lame  |

I'm not sure it would be allowed unfortunately....
But as I said earlier, I'm very briefly introducing myself, talk about their profile and say they can get in touch if they want. I always send a picture and try to show I read the profile!

Mmh, good question... I tend to be contacted by "older" women (I mean, older than me!!) when I'm sending messages to anyone I fancy, regardless of age/relationship status.
Nah, maybe it is just that the people I send messages to are simply not interested: it won't stop me from having fun with those who are |

Humour, intelligence, politeness/respect, grammar, imagination, and demonstrating an ability to read profiles. Pure filth is good, but not without the other stuff too. |

I definitely have the respect, the grammar, the ability to read profiles... My sense of humour might be a bit too nonsensical to use it, I'm afraid 
But, I've got to confess, I lack of imagination.... Any advice on how I could improve that?

Nonsense is good! Can't beat a good bit of gibberish to brighten the day.
We've not got any tips on how to improve your imagination though. Some people are just more lateral than others. You could always develop a healthy drug habit I guess?
Sometimes you just gotta go there before you can come back... |

Nonsense is good! Can't beat a good bit of gibberish to brighten the day.

I'm sure that becoming some kind of swinging Lewis Carroll (whose drug habit was everything but healthy though) could increase my number of meets
I always try not to go too far with the nonsense: people tend to think you're just crazy... It's not because I actually am that I want to show it |

I agree that initial contact from another usually has better results than sending, but those that do respond has usually worked out well for me too.
if i get no reply, i take it as no interest and move on. |
