Is there a way getting round having to divulge to your entire address book that you're using Telegram? Last time I installed it and logged on, I immediately got a message from a really old contact. So I quickly uninstalled. From looking online, there's no way round it  |

Depends on which app you're comparing but the most equivalent is Kik. Compared to that it's a million times better.
No bots and scammers, more secure, ability to delete messages and pics, nicer interface, just generally better. Harder to find groups if that's what you want but thats probably one reason it's not overrun with bots.
Need a phone number but can be hidden. Again it means it's much harder for multiple accounts so more likely to be a real person you're talking to |

This usually happens when they've set their name but not their username and then hidden their mobile number. It could also be because they've got their privacy settings to not accept messages from people not in their contacts.
