I have a genuine question.
Is being in control, giving orders, taking the lead the same as being a Dominant?
Is the phrase just linked to BDSM or can it be used to discribe a person who is in control?
Is there even a right answer?
(Please be respectful in your answers, I am new and curious). |

Personally I feel you can be dominant without linking it to bdsm.
Likewise bdsm can have that non sexual element to it as easily as it can sexual.
You can equally be more dominant than your partner and naturally take the lead without being a Dom or being in a dynamic.
I think there's alot of nuance. |

I think it depends on the people involved and sadly the country you're located in. Terminology and expectations aren't universal. Especially if you're in a country that still shames and makes discussing sex secretive, shady and taboo. Saying turn the lights on would be considered dominant here. |

most couples I've come across in life have one person more dominant than the other and while I've been on here it is quite surprising that you might think when you meet socially that he is the guy running the show only to find in the bedroom she is a dominant person, I couldn't really comment about BDSM it's not something I'm into |
