is it when you go to an arranged meet only for the other person to say "can you buy the drinks and meal" or as one did very recently had check to say "can you buy me new Rabbit and new nightie" (it was not fluffy type lol)
Both above examples are true and where at a social meet only.... |

being totally honest - i bought one round of drinks with first person and left politely and second one (the nightie one) I said feck off in a nice polite way
Its just one of those things and although we had chatted a few times prior to meeting - had either of them asked in advance i would have declined - its hard enough for a single man to meet single women - even harder for a Bi man to meet ..so i just thought what a waste of time grrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrr |

I think it's rude to expect it by default.
It's also cheeky to say it.
I wouldn't mind buying it, I really wouldn't; ...it just depends how it is said/asked.
If I was to meet someone for a drink, I'd be expecting to pay for at least a drink.
I wouldn't turn up EXPECTING the other person to pay for the drinks, that's just flat out rude imo.
Cheers

MrsH goes on quite a few dates and mainly social. She takes her own money and is happy to pay for her own drinks or food but quite often the man offers to pay which always goes down well. If I go on a date I would offer to buy the lady drinks, just old fashioned I guess. |

Its odd quite often if i go for a drink or coffee they will get the first and if we have another i will offer to pay for it.
And if its a hotel meet or something i don't mind going half but to ask for a rabbit and a nightie is a bit full on.
Its always nice to be spoiled by a guy but its nice when that spoiling is just done and not asked for or expected.

I work so I pay my way. It seems there are plenty with deep pockets but short arms. I have asked if someone would pick up some milk and I would reimburse them when they arrived, which I did.
And I have had guys turning up with wine and chocolates which is a lovely thought but certainly not an expectation. |

sexual equality and all that, when I meet socially at a cafe I expect the woman to buy the first round.
(and no, for you haters, that has never meant a cancelled social meet by the woman) |

I don't see anything wrong with accepting gifts - it's asking for them in the first place that I see as wrong.
Although some people may give a gift with a certain level of expectation I suppose... |

sexual equality has to me done more harm than good. I wouldn't cancel a meet, but I wouldn't meet again as it would put me off because I was brought up that gentleman always pays for the first drink... |

well I never stay long enough for a 2nd one but yes. although normally been refused in vanilla life when I offer that. |

Guess I am old fashioned too, If I invite a lady out I pay, if it is swinging or vanilla, I also open doors for ladies etc..
MrsH meets guys and does not expect gifts of any kind but if the guy does not offer to pay for a couple of drinks then it will go no further, its not like she is going to drink the pub dry as she drives to her meets.
Guys have offered gifts for sex which is a no no for us but having said that guys she meets regular have bought her gifts with nothing expected in return, it is all about mutual respect. |

We always go 50/50 with whoever we are meeting. Travelling to meet regular friends they offered to pay half our petrol when we went to theirs so we did the same when they came to ours.
If we were meeting for a social we would of course offer to buy the first drink but would be a bit miffed if the other party then didn't offer to pay for the second.
I think some (and I mean a minority) of women on here think that because they are so sought after they can make unreasonable demands and make people bend over backwards for them.

reading some recent replies i think there is a point being made here
Offering to pay for drink/meal is one thing and is just polite and right ....whereas being told you must/you have to/you will etc etc..is a different matter altogether
Glad topic caught your imagination |

That's a terrible excuse This is the swinging scene ... not the dating scene. You're both in it for the exact same thing and it's not a date. Socials are not dates. Expecting it is just ludicrous in any swinging situation. We ALWAYS cover the entire cost of a meet with a girl, but if we get the vibe it's expected, we're not even going to waste time on her again. |

I am sorry but if you ask a woman out you are expected to pay its called male chivalry .
If you agree to go Dutch at the time of the making of a date it's fair enough,
Learn from this and next time make a date for 30 minutes in a coffee shop , make the next date playing pool in a pub that is far enough away from her house she has to have soft drinks, in fact if she drives insist on soft drinks only

well thank you for advice...but after 10 years on scene here and elsewhere - even i draw the line at being told .... "you wanna meet me...you pay" .....which was essentially both scenarios here - but even older dogs learn new tricks occasionally |

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire) |
I would never expect anyone to buy my drinks or anything on a social meet. I will happily pay my own way. However, of someone offers to buy my drink, then I make sure I buy the next ones.
Even when I was dating, I always paid my own way... apart from the lovely guy who took me out for dinner - a half of cider and a packet of crisps (didn't even get to choose my own flavour lol)
But back on topic - when I have people meet at my house, I do not expect gifts either, and depending on the circumstances will usually cook a meal, and have a few bottles of wine in. A gift of an extra bottle always goes down well, but is never expected. |

There are a lot of people who ask for things for free off others, ive seen requests for lingerie on profiles ie 'i love corsets and if you buy one I'll model it for you'.
People ask for jobs to be done around the house or for professional photographers to take their pictures or for the cost of hotels etc.
I do see it as taking advantage of men who may be struggling for meets, but men should toughen up and tell these women and couples to bugger off |

For me I'm too independent to ask for anything and i certainly don't expect anything. I work and pay my own way and yes if a guy offers to pay for a drink I'd accept and offer to buy the next one!! Then again as Ive only ever done one social and I arrived first and got my own coffee it's irrelevant lol
Saying that though there are some cheeky mares on here. A guy I know who's new to fab was told by someone that she'd only meet if he fully paid for a decent hotel. When he mentioned going halves she claimed she never pays as there's half a dozen guys who she has that will pay it. Needless to say he declined her offer but I'm sorry more fool the guys that don't!! |

I have seen some odd things on here, like a status saying 'happy birthday to my daughter' or 'willing to pay for company'
The whole gentleman thing is easy enough, and so is being a lady. A gift for the party host etc is fine, respectful I think....but asked to pay for anything is crazy, unless its splitting equal costs.
Its a swinging site, not a dating or welfare site, keep smiling and swinging x |

Chivalry reduces women to helpless morons. I can do without it. Good manners and decency, however, are universal values I consider to be vital. |

"Have to say that the guys I meet wouldn't allow me to pay, I think as long as you don't take the pee then I don't see anything wrong with it. "
I would be mortified if a girl offered to pay for everything , as I am whenever a girl offers to pay . The worse thing a girl could do to me is open a door.
Sorry some things are a guys domain, and paying on a first meet is one of those things, and guys trust me a couple of games of pool is a lot more fun than a meal and cheaper. And also it gives us guys less chance to open our mouths and fuck it all up by saying something stupid
Girls would you rather go bowling or pool than have a meal out |

Well it is nice when a guy feels like he isn't just there to be made a mug of. But as a nice guy, you always try to be generous. One day I suppose I might meet a lady that wants to treat me - now that would be a first!
Seriously though, it is up to a gent if he wishes to offer, and if it turns out to be one way traffic, you soon get the picture, though it isn't the fact of being hurt in the pocket, but more just being dissapointed if that makes sense! |

Easily one of the most sexist things i've read today. There's no "domain". Men and women are equal, and equally capable of paying for whatever the hell they want. It is called equality. |

"That's a terrible excuse This is the swinging scene ... not the dating scene. You're both in it for the exact same thing and it's not a date. Socials are not dates. Expecting it is just ludicrous in any swinging situation. We ALWAYS cover the entire cost of a meet with a girl, but if we get the vibe it's expected, we're not even going to waste time on her again."

Seriously guys, you might be used to paying for ladies because it might have been the guys 'domain' to pay in the 50s, when men were the breadwinners and women stayed at home breeding. But its the 21st century now, and we've had emancipation for 100 years. Let us pay now and then. You might enjoy it. |

There's nothing wrong with men or women paying , what I thinks the point here is that most men or women think a meal is a good way to have a first date or meet.
This turns out to be extremely expensive last time i went for a meal it was over £150 and sometimes not a good investment.
I stand by my comments first date should be pool or bowling and put a time limit on it .
What you should be mindful of when choosing a date if your a rich guy is that some women would see you just for your money as is the case with rich women they also attract men that are only interested in money.
If your rich and want to impress someone with your financial standing just bring a copy of your banks statement
It is very difficult to get a date who is on a equal financial standing no matter how much you earn wether it's loads or very little
Make it cheap make it fun, your more likely to get a second time if you have a good time rather than fill the date with food and drink . |

see I think this is half of what is wrong in the world... but that's a whole new thread... But I'm sorry but anyone that did not offer to buy my drink on a social wouldn't get a further meet because I would judge them on it.
however.. remember I'm talking less than 2quid... Not meals.. I would never let anyone spend lots on me...
Maybe it is old fashioned but it's just the way I was brought up... Was also told never to accept jewellery or underwear lol |

Going back to the OP - this is not about chivalry or manners - its more about down right cheek of someone telling you/demanding you MUST pay etc ; is a far cry from being happy and willing to pay without prompting |

Age has nothing to do with education, respect and good manners.
Making ageist comments is discrimination!
Being a liberated/emancipated woman does not mean you are a man's equal, does not give women the right to treat men badly or to be rude to them; Emancipation gives women choice, independance and freedom of actions.

i've had it the other way round many times, when on meets i've had guys offer to take me shopping, buy me underwear etc
If a woman wants someone to buy them stuff they don't have to ask there's many men out there willing to offer |

Neither side should expect the other to pay for anything and certainly not to HAVE to or provide gifts. Most guys will likely offer to pay for drinks and dinner - all women should at least offer to go Dutch. If you're using a hotel room, why shouldnt both parties pick up part of the tab?
This isn't a date, you're not courting, people need to grow up and act like adults and quit treating the swinging scene as a dating site or a place to get paid for sex.
No one is providing a service here. If you think you are and are wanting gratuties then get yourself set up as a company, have some business cards printed and jog on! |

Everyone has their own reasons for using this site.. We choose to use it to get dates and long term boyfriends, not just as a shag fest.. we do not seek rewards or payment so do not judge everyone the same thanks!

There is a name for offering sexual services for reward - prostitution.
If you want you give a present then great: if you are asked for one then it is something entirely different.
