Is there any unwritten "wink etiquette?".
Since joining we've always thought if we send the wink, we get one back, we then instigate the message. Sometimes we don't want to message straight away.
We've noticed that a lot of people do both a wink and a message (sometimes all three if they send a friend request).
Any winks we receive and we like the look of, we wink back but most of the time it doesn't go any further.
Curious as to what you guys all do with winks? I see loads of people put they ignore them on the profile.

I always take a good look at anyone who winks me (there really aren't that many) and if they are someone I'd like to meet I'll wink back and follow up with a message.
I do send winks from time to time, but it really depends on the profile, some are totally against them so I wouldn't wink them, some state that they use winks as an initial "ice-breaker" to test mutual attraction so I'll wink them. |

Winks are very hit and miss here. Many dont even look at them, but I think they are a good ice breaker, lookm at profile, wink back or message or just move on if they do not suit you.....as I said they good and Iuse /like them but lots do;t |

I rarely look at winks. Last time there was a thread like this I went and looked and there were winks going back 6 months or more that I had never seen.
I don't send winks or messages but on previous occasions when I have seen winks and decided to reciprocate, in the vast majority of cases that was as far as it went because they didn't follow up with a message after I had winked back.
It should always be the person sending the original wink who makes the first move to messaging if they get a response rather than what many people do and expect the person they have winked to start the conversation. |

Some don't look at winks, some do.
I tend to go with you if we wink & they wink back we'd follow up with a message and vice versa however we've several people just send a wink every month, we wink back & that's that the game continues - I never understand why they keep winking and never message.

"I agree that the "wink" there, "wink" back is a nice indication to message.. as I'm sure the amazing single ladies and couples here can get overwhelmed quite a bit..."
Couldn’t have said it better my self |

I send winks to show interest if I receive a wink in return I'll then take the first shot and message if I don't receive a wink I take it as no interest and move on because dwelling on rejections doesn't get you anywhere |

I wink if I like someone. If I get nothing back I won't message them. If a wink is returned I will then send a message. If I get nothing at all I quite often block so I don't wink at them again and come across as a pest. |

We wink to show interest. If we get one back we will then send a message. If we get winked and send one back we wait for them to send an opening message.
Seems a lot of people however don’t bother using the wink system at all.

I wink to show interest or if I really like a profile. I don't wink couples or ladies that aren't looking to engage with guys or if I'm to far out of the age range, but will fab nice pics.
I will send a short message if I get a wink or wink back.

This is what I have on my profile. Not that I get many winks, I see them as a nice moral boost.
Similar to a photo being liked
“Ps A wink from me = I like your profile and simply ‘like’, or your profile may be on the fence of if I’m what you’re seeking so a casual wink is to break the ice and feel free to message/wink if my profile is appealing.” |

I have this in my profile. If I wink and you wink back it shows that you have read my profile and that you are interested. I will then instigate the first message. Just saves everyone time. If you like what you see on my profile and you wink back then I won't be wasting my time or yours by filling up your inbox or been ignored. I found this to work well so far |

Whenever I receive a 'Wink', if it's from a female or couple I will respond with a 'Thanks...' message - which sometimes leads to a further exchange or more, other times not...
....likewise with 'Fabs' of photos - in either case, I don't respond to single males or TV/TS accounts, as I've no interest in meeting with them... |

I am not sure there is a proper etiquette, but winking at a profile with the expectation that *THEY* will message is not the nicest thing to do.
If I get a wink and I wink back and I don't hear from them, that's all I need to know about them. |

We wink if we are interested when we see a profile or if we get a wink we take it as they like the look of us so we will then check out there profile if we like then drop a message over little point just winking back! |

I am largely with you on this OP. If I get a wink and I like them then I will tend to respond with a message. |
