We always send a wink, so as not to bombard people with messages. If they wink back, we'll then message as they have looked at us and are interested

I wont wink just anybody!!! ,

but i feel a wink is good way to see if there is any interest back rather then send a long personal message (not a copy n paste job either!!) for it to be overlooked,

I understand that women/ couples get high amounts of messages so saves annoying people with messages x

I enjoy sending winks as an optimistic ice breaker (even if they’re very rarely reciprocated)

Winks work great!

We send one and, if we receive one back, that tells us it would be worthwhile sending a wee message.

Not everyone uses them but we find them useful

We quite like winks as a way of initiating conversation - easy to reciprocate if the profile looks promising, easy to ignore if not

Yes, many times

I've received and sent them, leading to success. Read the profile. Some say not to bother. Others state they welcome them.

We like them, if we send one and they look and wink back then we say hello, if someone winks us we say hello, as they obviously were reaching out to see if there's any interest.

Seems simple and sensible enough to us.

But hey....

Winks are like marmite, some welcome it, some find it as lazy. Some will wink as part of playing a forum game.

For me I’ve had some success in getting noticed or having a mutual wink. Key is to read profile first. Some will specifically mention if they do or do t respond to winks
