Wank material, picture collection, trying to trick people. In every community there are those that will attempt to take advantage. Just the nature of the game. |

I agree and that is what I do in a pinch. The most popular fakes I have encountered are single men with couples profiles. Not sure what happens when they meet.
If we arranged to meet a couple and only the guy turned up he would be very disappointed. |

Yes I get that, but really don’t get what they gain from creating a fake couple or female account as you said when it’s time to meet up how would they explain and why waste each other’s time and also lose trust with online dating and can be scary |

When it's blokes creating a couples profile I think they do it in the misguided belief that they can get a meet, explain the wife's absence by illness or similar in the hope that the people they are meeting will go ahead anyway.
Then you have those that create single female profiles using borrowed pics and have no intention of meeting ever, but get some kind of kick out of being able to interact sexually on-line with other unsuspecting users, or do it for attention or an ego boost - and with so many desperate guys on here, who will jump at the merest sign of interest, it's easily done.
There's a profile I'm aware of, that, until action was finally taken recently, had had pics on page 1 of Hot Pics, was incredibly popular around the forums, and generally had blokes swarming around "her" whenever she posted - all of "her" pics were borrowed from a site on the web. After numerous reports by users, and a couple of pointed forum threads, her pics were removed and the profile went UNLOS, within a week a new profile appeared with pics borrowed from the same site that I suspect was the same person behind it - mercifully action appears to have been taken a lot quicker this time. |

A single man's profile will have trouble getting another guy to talk dirty by message or on Kik. An attractive single woman's profile will find it easy.
I saw a small excerpt from The Circle on gogglebox last night which showed how easy it is to trick people on line. |

Many gay men here bi alao that create female accounts as well as couples in the hope of getting lucky with us straight men. Lol
Many fake females here too that simply want pics, no desire to meet but like no wait love the attention and then those that crave attention and fab for their pics.
There's alsorts here in both genders you just have to be chilled and ride the waves man. |

I saw that too - scary how easily some people are taken in and how easy it is to do it.
Mind you the excerpt from the X Factor also showed that in the most bizarre of ways too |

Could it be kids having a laugh?
I remember a few years back the kids in my village had fake profiles on POF and adult work, they then go on who’s near to see what the parents are up to.
They ‘outed’ the local pub owner who was on adult work and it became the talk of the village.
Be careful everyone. |

I see a lot of male profiles with pictures lifted from porn. I reverse Google image search anything that looks too good to be true.
I suppose a guy with pictures of a ripped dude with a monster black cock might have more luck than an average single guy profile, but how the heck does that translate when an overweight white middle aged man shows up?
(I've even seen profiles where the pictures have different skin colours. Like c'mon, really?) |

Remember one guy who had three pics - one had prominent freckles on his body, an older one didn't have the freckles but did have a tattoo and the other was an obviously different skin tone
Went UNLOS within minutes of it being questioned!! |

Don't be silly, they will be too busy down the pub to care what their little monsters are up to. |

It's not just fab, it's everywhere. People obviously get something out of it. You should watch Catfish. It will give you an insight into the reasons behind why some create fake profiles |

Some have no intention of meeting. They just want the attention they get from the profile. |

Just see in the paper the other day how a gay man pretended to be a woman online and meet up with 4 different straight guys and sex with, how’s that even possible and he’s been convicted for it |

Some fake profiles are phishing scams looking for personal details, some are there to discover how best to approach a real profile by stealing all the best responses, some are there to verify each other, or their real account, some are there for shits and giggles and to break the monotony of another day without any responses to the hundreds of copy and paste messages, some are there for picture collecting, some are there for sexual thrills, some are there to suggest that there are more women on here than there are and to dilute the competition, some of them are to fill the time, some of them are to trap unsuspecting partners. And virtually all of them are made by men! |

It can just be plain old attention seeking. Each to their own. Far too much of it goes on though and it's very boring lol |

It's about approval, the interaction and gaining if someone's trust is a great prize and power for them.
I once had a friend who was emotionally intelligent but a serial philaderer, he confessed quite openly that once someone had agreed to shag him his interest waned..they'd acquiesced which was enough for him as he believed it confirmed his 'attractiveness'. |

We’re newbies, but even we are getting good at spotting the fakes, lol.
Had one just last night. Couples profile with a couple of photos. Exchanged a few messages, all one liners and quite blunt from ‘them’, then got ‘wot u look like where u live?’ I kid you not! Sent a polite reply, then got another one saying, ‘so we don’t get to see photos then’. I said we had public photos on our profile, then got a friend request from them. Alarm bells rang, so they were blocked. We then got another message, from a different profile, calling us weirdos because we blocked them when they asked for photos! Lol |

I've just seen an update for a new woman called P**** from Bognor that looks straight from a porn site. |

Based on the evidence, sounds more like a chancer or a picture collector than a fake. |

Actually, the ones that are trying to trap unsuspecting partners are generally female in my experience. |

This all reminds of that program please correct me if I'm wrong called catfish you know where people use to set up fake dating profiles and get caught out some of the most cringe making tv ive ever seen but serves the culprits right for playing with peoples feelings I suggest if you ever want to know why people set up fake profiles watch episodes of catfish and you'll find out why by the perpetrators themselves |

Such is the nature of any online social platform. As to why people do it? I would love to know. Seems like a lot of effort to go through to not get very much out of. I guess the people that create the fake accounts do, but it just boggles my mind. |

Get over it and move on, perhaps some desperate guys can't get a meet so cry fake everytime"
Won't meet me = must be fake!

Not at all it's usually people that have tried to meet you on a profile, if you don't they set up another profile verifying themselves. Some have numerous and keep trying. Also see my first post about a guy in a couple setting up as a single girl getting in on group chat for a party so he can get his kicks on face pics, naughty pics & vids and getting peoples numbers messaging as if he's a girl, why should we have to put up with that |

Whilst that is of course one angle that does indeed happen - there are also plenty of examples of fake profiles that are exactly that - deliberately fake, with borrowed pictures that are intended to deceive.
They're an almost daily occurrence - as my earlier post said there was until recently a popular and verified forumite who had been to page one of Hot Pics - all of who's pics were borrowed from the net - she was eventually forced to remove them but just went UNLOS and set up a new profile, which again used borrowed pics, that was acted against a bit quicker - suspect she's now back again with yet another.
More disgustingly there's the single male profile that had a pic of a dead soldier on his profile (which has mercifully been removed) but continues to use one of a friend of Prince Harry's to this day
The key is being vigilant and spotting them - too many people are all to willing to believe everything they see on the net and while they are people will continue to try and deceive. |

purely the ratio on these sites and lack of attention from anyone, so they feel the need to lie to get some, For many fake attention is better than none at all.

Came across a female profile tonight - joined 3 months ago with no verifications.
They requested for verifications, low and behold she now has 3 saying they met her.
Reported obviously.
It just annoys us that it ruins it for the real people in here.
