Plenty of fluids, waterproof outers, good waterproof boots, layers of clothing so that you can take them off as you will perspire a bit and remember sometimes the descent is more tiring than the climb. Take walking pole(s), they can make a difference.

Glad to hear your getting out on the hills.
Need to get back out myself.
Ben Lomond is a good one, solid track all the way up - tho it hurts the knees on the way down lol
If the weather's good I usually go down the ptarmagin route.

Plenty good advice online elsewhere. Difficult to know where to pitch it. Personally I would say to anyone. Map, compass, decent clothes. Treat them with some respect especially in winter. Watch out for the short days and remember conditions at the top could be much worse than in the car park. Above all enjoy.
Ben lomond and the cobbler are both great hills and handy for Glasgow.
Munro shagging? Although the cobbler isn't.

Ben Lomond is a good one to start with for most.Isn't too hard, great views, track all the way up,and no real chance of getting lost as heavily populated, expect 30-40 people on top at the weekend.
The Cobbler isnt a Munro if its a munro you are looking to do. |

Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas are straight forward well pathed Munro’s with great views of you get a clear day. Once you start you won’t be able to stop, it’s addictive.

Easy first Munro - choose nice weather and a good pal!
Lawers, Ghlas and Tarmachan at Killin are OK, short and great views.
Chonzie at Crieff is simple, and track 3/4 of way up.
Carn Liath above Blair Atholl is steep, but ace views, short and simple.

Cobbler is a Corbett not a Munro..however brilliant mountain to walk
I suggest you get the guide and look at the technicalities all depends in your walking experience of hill walking, Ben lomand is a good walk, however a long day if inexperienced and the weather can be brutal once into the cloud base check weather and wind speed before going is my advice ..but look at guides for advice to how easy or difficult the terrain is |

Waterproofs include trousers. So many folk wear jackets and boots then jeans on???? |

It might already have been mentioned on here but one of the most important of all is to make sure you inform someone where your walking, climbing, when you expect to get back and let them know the route if possible 
It's one of the most amazing feelings, climbing a Munro, being able to chill, sit back and look out to the horizon and the scenery

Ben Vane at Arrochar always quieter as is Ben Lui from the Tyndrum/Cononish side, spectacular views but a long mundane walk in 
Another quieter one is Stob Binnean from Inverlochlarig always peaceful.
