If this has been started then please accept my apologies

So Glasgow seems to want to follow Edinburgh to tax visitors to the city

The money will help improve the city (shite to start with )

I’ve been in may cities in Europe and have had the same shit usually the person at check in says it’s a joke

However here we want to charge local people who decide rather than go home we will treat ourselves to a hotel night and now we get fucked again by the council ?

The night time trade will lose more because of this and they do not need it it’s a joke and a con the city will see nothing in improvement to it

Sorry for the rant but enough is enough a night out inthe town is dear enough without this shit

glasgow centre

It’s 5% it’s not going to have any effect on tourism or people using hotels.

I don't get it myself. I don't see what it is going to achieve. It's not like the hotels are like say las vegas where you pay a daily resort fee for the use of amenities pools ect. Even at that I don't agree with these resort fees either.

We are already paying enough to stay there never mind the overinflated bar prices they charge.

At least in vegas you drink for free if gambling.

This combined LEZ, £100 for parking on pavements,£100 for straying into bus lane, the city is becoming a joke it's already expensive to stay Friday or Saturday to charge locals who already pay higher tax is just plain wrong no wonder city centres are dying the shops say rates are too high, bus service is hopeless after 8pm trains unreliable and stop just after 11pm. At this rate going to be cheaper to go further to other places and avoid the city centre

Yeah I posted a similar, but like usual people here don't too much follow new laws or do research into it's a/effect.

It should already be illegal to price gouge but it isn't. I've worked hospitality and it's ridiculous the pricing difference. For those that don't get ripped off, of course they don't care.

£300-400 for a premier inn room in August! Plus you want to charge 5% more. You've already charged 200% more than standard.

The answer is very simple, stay out of the city & have your night out in a smaller town

Glasgow

What’s lost on some here clearly is how they’re already wasting your tax money and are now looking at other ways to fleece you. I’d hazard a guess, within these cities, it’s party lines and there is the problem. Just a merry go round, sadly. Insane.

In Edinburgh they are ring fencing a percentage of the tax for Council Housing. I'm in favour of it
