"Does anyone know if there are ever any socials in the Falkirk area ? Tia "
Off the top of my head I cant think of any in Falkirk
Most of the big socials are in the main cities, Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow Edinburgh as they know people will come from all around so usually used to make it easy to travel.
Falkirk is a good area to get to and from so nothing wrong with arranging a social with like minded people yourself in a club or pub or even a house social get together, if no one comes forward it doesn't take long to arrange as it only takes one person to start it |

I'd done a few socials in fife and know another girl that done a fife social, hardly anyone from fife actually attended. All successful socials but mostly come in from outside of fife .
I think people don't want to be outed in their hometowns |

Yeah no one wants outed and would hope everyone attending would respect that !
I can see why local people might not want to as the chance of being outed is higher but good to connect with likeminded locals. |

"Would people from Falkirk meet up in Falkirk
Sounds good but as we don't want people local knowing it would be a risk
Always someone who would blab"
Yeah, I guess that is a concern. Need to be careful about who is invited and be sure everyone is discrete and respectful. Seem to be a few in other areas and these run okay. |

Believe me - we went all the way to
Manchester for our first club visit… to avoid Glaswegians and the club was full of them!!
If you don’t want to meet someone you may meet in other contexts then don’t get involved in the scene.

I have thought of arranging some socials over the years but they are a lot work
I used to like the ones where you met up and mingled in a pub function room usually under the guise of a works night out or a birthday party
Maybe I will one of these days x |

Let us know if you do, I'm sure plenty would like to attend. Good to have some ideas about a cover story. |

I saw bowling as a social in another thread. Doesn't need to be on Falkirk if people don't mind travelling. Could be good for a smaller group. Let me know if anyone interested and if so what mix of couples and singles you'd like. Always going to be plenty of single guys I guess so may need to led by couples and single ladies on the mix. |

It’s an awful lot of work and you know what it’s like you never please everyone! But I am a wee social butterfly so if I had someone to help I might just do it
Hint, hint |

I tried to arrange one a few years ago no one was seriously interested. I'm from the states our lifestyle groups were active each circle was a minimum of 25 and every week was a social and had a play event. |

Seems like there are a few people interested in social meets but probably not enough to arrange an event. With that in mind maybe better to just set up a group and arrange mini socials. Hopefully can build up to a group of reliable and sociable people who can arrange to meet when suits them and invite others along. |

Are you actually saying I'm not desperate....lol
Very little choice on here for a guy.
Certainly not grovelling or belittling myself.
As the name says.....

Resurrecting this thread as we get closer to Christmas and people are hopefully feeling sociable. I don't think there is enough interest for a large organised social but maybe there are enough people interested to just get together as a small group and make connections. Hopefully can build from there and of course anyone from further afield welcome to join.
Feel free to share your thoughts here or just reach out to the fellow fabbers you'd like to get to know socially, have a chat with, share experience and advice with. |

That’s a pity, I would be interested in a fife social |

How do people feel meeting locals at a social
For us we keep private
It makes things a bit harder
We only really hear from men
We thought it would be nice to social
Social and fun
With couples also
But not for us |

I get that people can be nervous about bumping into people they know at local socials but could still happen at events in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Organisation and screening are key to everyone feeling comfortable but a lot of work for organisers. |

I haven’t organised a social for a while and would be happy to do one in Falkirk if there was enough interest?
If people would rather we can make it booking a room/ hall or a pub crawl as I’ve done both before.
Also tend to try and keep the numbers pretty even between single men/ single women/ couples as it makes for a more comfortable night for all involved |

Ok so deciding that I will end up organising a social for in the new year for the Falkirk area.
As it will be an even split of single men/women/couples obviously the single male spots always fill up quickly and then there becomes a waiting list.
The more couples and single females going the more single men can come.
This is for safety of all going and to ensure that nobody feels put upon or uncomfortable and anyone that cannot accept this will be uninvited.
The date will be decided and it will obviously be in Falkirk but the location will be provided a few days before to again minimise chances of it being shared with those not checked and in the past we have even had people call the venue and this caused its own issues.
At all times discretion is completely key (we all have lives outside of fab)
We may set up a group chat on another app for those who are going to chat and get to know each other a bit first as well
Please send me a DM with Falkirk social interested if you would like to go to this event.
P.S it again will most likely be a pub crawl

I would be interested if it wasn’t a pub crawl I like a seat
Probably a very unpopular opinion but I don’t know Falkirk that well and I would at least know where I’m going and could plan how I’m getting home etc |

I have organised socials before and found that pub crawls tend to be actually less conspicuous and safer. It also allows those going more freedom as if they are not “feeling it” it’s easier to slink away in between pubs |

Just to remind those that have been messaging me about this, I do an even split between single males, single females and couples, the more single females and couples are coming the more single men will as well.
If the spaces are full for single males then the next people to request get waitlisted, and if someone pulls out or if we get more single females and couples coming then more spaces become available for single males too.
This is to make everyone on the night feel comfortable and safe.
All people are briefed on discretion, verified and an agreed code is used to identify other fabbers while out plus a group chat will be set up beforehand. |

"You got any dates in mind yet? "
Most likely will be February as there would be waay too much organising to get it done before the new year and everyone is always pretty skint in January after Christmas, as Falkirk isn’t too big a place again for the attendees safety I will make sure the exact date and time and location will be sent to those on the list beforehand privately x |

Falkirk |
I would be interested in going. I realise there will probably be a waiting list as I’m in the single guy bracket. But just to let you know of my interest, never been to one before but keen to join and full discretion would be honoured of course.
Thanks |
