.

Every village, town and city around where I Live (Kinross) are all having massive new build projects and i am not talking about 10 or so new homes, I am talking about hundreds.

.

Are there New Builds going on in your area?

.

over a thousand being built in Perth, hundreds in Bridge of Earn, Hundreds in Auchterarder, Hundred in Stanley, Hundreds in Scone, Hundreds in Kinross & Milnathort, all surrounding villages in Perthshire are having massive expansion

what is it like where you live?

They built a new village almost on the MoD site at Bishopton a few years ago. That’s been the biggest project near me. Soon the villages will be joined up unfortunately. I live in quite a rural area. 5 mins literally takes me past farms. I see sheep and cows from my living room.

Fortunately it’s too hilly to build more houses near me.

You mention a "New" village" how many homes would you estimate being built?

I am really interested in discovering how many new builds are being built and in what area's

thank you for your post.

4000 new homes over 30 years it says. It’s on the old Royal Ordinance Factory site. Various different builders are being used. Unfortunately it also takes away the natural habitat for a lot of wildlife. My Dad worked there in the 60’s.

They were going to build new council houses on the sites of two old primary schools but yet again it’s been shelved as there’s no money. The sites are overgrown and look awful. Renfrewshire council found money to refurbish the town hall, museum, library, etc but no money to develop an area that really needs it. They had interested to replace most of the council houses in that area too to bring them up to current energy saving ratings, etc.

One builder built homes in Bridge of Earn, in the contract it stated that when he reaches 100 homes, he agrees to build a new village primary school.

He built 99 homes then stopped at 99.

I used to live in Renfrew and over the last 5 years a lot of flats and houses have been built. The area near Braehead Shopping Centre specifically.

It was one of those new build flats I moved into. Everything built to me and my partner at the times specifications. There where several issues with it and I wasn't too impressed with the quality.

They're not going up as quickly as they were. Our work has noticed there seems to be a bit of a go slow on at the moment. Not delivering anywhere near as much materials to the sites as I was a couple of years ago

I’ll pop round for a cuppa next time.

We’ve been promised new houses in an area near me for over a decade and it still hasn’t happened. There’s never enough money. It’ll be too expensive to build houses now for the area their in.

That seems to be the issue, the places that we deliver the timber kits for have slowed down a lot over the past while. We're still taking into the sites that are near completed but I personally haven't been to a "new" site in over a year. There's just nothing happening

Where I live is the same. Hundreds of new homes being built.

Nothing wrong with developing new homes, however when they're priced at a lot more than the average home here, it pushes up all the prices.

Also don't get me started on folk moving from city-centre, and expecting all the same amenities that had at their old location. Isn't that something you should check for before moving, if it's something you want/need?

We live fairly close to Dargavel. The infrastructure is not in place at all for a project of the scale it is.

Next to no amenities have been built, the newly built school is overcrowded and no sign yet of a high school.

Like you mentioned, eventually it will grow to the extent that their will be no countryside between villages

Edinburgh (She/Her)

Building projects keep the housing market moving and trades in jobs.

If the housing market stops or falls flat. No income generation for government plus no income for trades, meaning less income tax or buying of items, etc.

Would mean higher bank interest rates and collapse in the housing market as seen previously.

The government can't afford this to happen, so it has unlocked thousands of homes projects across the country North and South of the border to stimulate parts of the economy.

It is just one element used to stimulate the economy.

That’s shocking. No doubt the nearby secondary schools will be bursting as well if they haven’t built another school.

Unfortunately there’s no funding for the proposed houses near me. They even had a project manager for it in place last year. I was speaking to him last year. The sites were the schools once stood are overgrown and unsightly.

Definitely this.

We've a local builder constructing 3 new 4 bed houses - latest standards, good spec, choice of all sorts etc. £270k

National size housebuilder, smaller plots, less generous spec etc, £400k...

Being in Inverness I am used to houses being built in the city itself and surrounding area. Back when it was a town is was the fastest growing town in Western Europe. Since City status its kept on expanding.
