"Housecoat is an old word.
But if I heard it nowadays I'd think of one of those slightly puffy ones with a floral design, and the person wearing it with curlers in and/or a hair net on."

Growing up doon by Clyde it was and will always be a “ hooscoat” taught from a young age by our nana and maw!!
To “toffee nose” it up as a bathrobe or dressing gown would have resulted in laughter and name calling
Seems respectful to keep the history |
