Sooo excitedly I’ve given up my apartment and going full digital nomad from Oct. I’ll spend the first month in Blackpool followed by a couple of months in Scotland!
So, where better to ask for the best places in Scotland to visit. Ideally areas that are relatively cheap with plenty to do and see! |

Oban is a wonderful base for the western isles and the west is beautiful if you want nature. Edinburgh would be a fantastic place to live for a while if you prefer a city. I was there for 15 years and loved it. |

"Ayrshire / West Coast/ Glasgow areas"
Genuinely without bias for cheapness and plenty of things to do and see. I agree. Ayrshire has more castles per capita than the whole of Scotland. We also have amazing beaches.
The wife and I also rent a room during summer time. Cheap and cheerful. No frills. If you are interested

Are you going full van life? If so, Musselburgh is best place to base yourself for some time in Edinburgh.
West Coast is absolutely amazing too, Arisaig, Glen Coe, Ullapool, Applecross are all personal favourites - but weather not the best, particularly later in year! |

Nope not doing the van life thing! I plan to do a month or so in each place via hostels/hotels/air bnbs etc. |

It depends what do you wanna see and the budget.
Loch Lomond area is great, Edinburgh is awesome.. more up north you head, it gets more beautiful. Such as as Morray area, Pitlochry, Perthshire too.
There are plenty of places to see and do things cheaper or free.

"The fife coast is so pretty and lots to do if you stay in one of the small villages, and gives you the option to head to st Andrews and elie "
Oh yeah, there are few nice places and fairly priced.
Some villages are amazing and one been voted one of the best places in Scotland |

Try to get to see at least one of the islands!
Inverness is a nice smaller city.
Glasgow and Edinburgh have their own individual charms!
A lot of the North Coast (Elgin and either side) is nice.
And then there is the NE coast, Balmedie, Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Montrose...
So much to see and do.
And maybe try and climb up a 3000ft Munro while up here too.
PM if you'd like further info. |

Make sure you spend some time in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. That should be enough city time though, skip the others and get out into the wilds. The West coast is idyllic, and the Cairngorms are magnificent when the weather is on your side. Just make sure you can cover your own 4G needs for work while you’re out in the wilds - you won’t find Wi-Fi everywhere.
And most of all, have fun! You’re going to have a blast. (And I’m going to keep my eye out for a stunner with brightly coloured hair passing through …) |

Oh, I do like a girl around my own height.
You’ll have no shortage of people offering to play your guide or host for you while you’re up here. (Or in Blackpool, to be honest. I lived there for a while and if you can get in with the locals it’s a friendly town.) |

Ayrshire coast is a must. If you should go up north to Moray and you bump into that wee tory bastard Douglas Ross give him a swift kick in the Kelvin Halls . Thanks. |

DUMFRIES |
Dumfries and Galloway isn't bad I suppose. I've lived here pretty much all my life so I think it's shite, but everyone I know that's not from the area think its lovely. And there's a lot of stuff to see if you're prepared to travel for it. |

Oh heck. Soooo much choice.
West coast going up the side of Loch Lomond over the rest and be thankful to arrochar and Inveraray then up to Oban and maybe even a couple of trips to the western isles.
Or the great Glen from Fort William to Inverness.
Or the east coast taking in Eyemouth, north Berwick, then over the bridge to Elie, Anstruther and St Andrew’s.
Or head up the middle to Callander, Crieff and Aberfeldy up through the Cairngorms to Aviemore.
Enjoy |
