Edinburgh social meet, Saturday 28th May.
Please disregard the previous date, there was an error made.
With the help of Milf N Filth we have a venue organised.

Update on the social plans,with the help of The amazing Milf N Filf, We have secured exclusive access to a cocktail bar for the evening in the centre of Edinburgh, meaning we can all relax & chat openly.
There has been a really good response to this & we hope to make this a regular meet.
Securing a venue like this in Edinburgh does come at a cost & will need to be paid in advance.
There has been a lot of time, effort & thought put into this, some won’t like that there is a cost to a social & all will appreciate that securing a venue where we can all chat openly & relax amongst likeminded people will make this a fantastic evening.
Costs: couples £25, single males: £20, single females: £15.

Which you should cover, people - including myself said not to book anything like that as you’ll be out of pocket. And why do single men have to pay more than single women? If you want us to pay, it should be split equally, including couples, and you should have said something sooner, not just landed it on us.
I’m speaking for myself I was looking forward to this but on top of fuel increases etc I’m not paying that for entry into a cocktail bar I’d never normally be in (and which can be walked into for free) I don’t work so don’t have that kind of money.

As said in previous posts nothing was fully confirmed now it is has been we have disclosed the information. If you attend a swingers club you will pay again at different rates.
We understand some people won’t want to pay and that’s fine but others will be happy to pay.
As you say about not wanting a private event it would be impossible for 30/40 people to do a pub crawl and me personally for work and family reasons I wouldn’t want to sit in a public bar getting to know couple and having to be cautious of who is around and listening.
With a private event cocktail bar or club and people needing to make a payment gives you an indication of your clear numbers and more control over who can attend on a pub crawl you can’t.

I never said anything about a pub crawl?
It’s entirely possible to have 30 - 40 people in a pub ( not pub crawl) just sitting chatting and having a good time. Do you honestly think people will chat about swinging?
As for paying prices to get into a club - well obviously that’s why a lot of us are here. To meet others for sex not to pay prices to get into a mass social meet.
You do realise that if numbers now drop you will have to pay the balance with the bar as it’s a contract between yourselves and the bar that you entered into.
I appreciate you trying to organise a social meet up but I don’t think you’ve done it in the best way for all.

The point in the large meet up is to meet like minded couples that are in the same boat.
Our contract with the venue and these charges mean we are not out of pocket.
We understand this one is not for you which is totally fine hopefully you get the pub meet you want but something like a public pub meet is not for me. We are trying to organise this based on how we find the site and meeting with like minded people and how we like to be discreet and this is the best way for us and many others we have spoken with hence why it’s done this way.

Yeah I get places charge but private functions usually charge 100 to hire out and usually have like a min spend for drinks for the eveing .. and why is the prices like a club should be a flat rate for all expecially with no playing involved this it's ridiculous tbh

Nobody did ask for it your right. So if it’s not for you just go past the thread. Your not coming as you don’t want to pay that’s fine your choice others are attending and happy to pay.

I've never had any problems paying a reasonable per person cost and have enjoyed previous socials on that basis, I know how much of a struggle getting venues can be, but preferential pricing for couples for a social just seems a bit unwelcoming to everyone else - I don't see why I should have to pay more than the next person purely because I would be attending by myself.
Will definitely keep an eye out for any future events being organised on a more equal basis though. |

Was wondering that myself, maybe taking it on the basis if, say a third of the people turn up then costs will still be covered, not sure. But definitely agree with others that everyone should pay the same at a social, clubs are priced like that to control the ratio of genders etc but never heard of a social doing it.

Unless fact you state pub knows its a swingers event you are actually suggesting they are fine for venue to be used for a sex party which then you can maybe justify the pricing.
With other socials we have paid for its been equal pricing and includes a drink with price being £7-£10. Will a drink be included at those prices?
If you get say 100people committed and paid will the excess of the £1,700 approx become a massive kitty for everyone or will there be partial refunds?
Will all guests be notified of numbers on the night with option to drop out and be refunded if not enough interest is generated for them to justify fuel, entry, drinks and hotel?

When there is interest from 30+men alone it needs to be limited and control taken over who is attending or it ends up being a males night out. Do people really want a social when they majority would be single mails? It’s about getting the balance |

It’s not us who bet the money and the reason for for the charge is to be able to manage the amount in attendance. As you won’t be aware there is 30+ males alone interested so it has to be monitored on who is attending |

As we have stated Milf & filth are helping arrange this with many success events and social events under there belt we are more than confident they know the pricing etc.
The will be a cut off date for interest and then numbers can be given.
It’s a private cocktail bar that know what everyone is there for. As stated on the other post that seem to be getting reported we are still in talks in regards to there being a free drink on arrival and some nibbles. However with people that have no interest in attending and jumping on the thread these details seem to be getting missed |

The reason for it for a social is because already there is 30+ single mails messaged about attending so this needs to be monitored and the only way is with a fee. Milf & Filth have many events under there belt and we feel this will be just as good as the rest |

The most we've ever charged for a social is £15 which was an Xmas one and Included first drink, a generous buffet and raffle prizes. Usual price is between £7/10 which includes a first drink and room hire (if there is one) money doesn't control numbers you do that by saying sorry full for single guys, it's really quite simple.
Totally get why folk are questioning you, you've given no information regarding numbers, only mentioned the drink and nibbles after being questioned.
It's great that you're getting something going in Edinburgh and I hope it's a great success for you but def think you need to go back to the drawing board regarding pricing as most folk who regularly attend socials won't pay that

We are no longer interested, attended a social in Glasgow earlier this year for half the cost and was priced per head, in a great city centre location. These prices appear greedy and unjustified unfortunately  |

The social host secures space in a venue by simply agreeing a minimum spend. Quite perplexing as to what expenses there might be to charge up to £7-10 a head

The reason for it for a social is because already there is 30+ single mails messaged about attending so this needs to be monitored and the only way is with a fee. Milf & Filth have many events under there belt and we feel this will be just as good as the rest "
The only way to monitor is to keep male female ratio in line. Not charging silly amounts. These prices are really high compared to other socials and it does look like you're in it for the money x |

This is a city centre bar giving us exclusive use.
We were aware before the costs were put up that some would be against it, which is perfectly fine, people have their opinions & we respect that, however there has been great support there for it & these people understand the costs.

If it has nothing to do with money, why are you charging the same prices that a swinging club would charge to control numbers? This is a social (ie no playing, just chatting and drinking) why are you trying to control people, what do you stand to get out of it?
I worked it out, before the price update went up, if all those who expressed an interest were to pay to secure a place you’d make just short of £1,000, minus the sum of the hire let’s say £300 (maybe less maybe more but I doubt it) that means you’d have £700 to do what with? Put it behind the bar? As that’s the ONLY feasible way you could use it. Or perhaps you’d KEEP that money to put towards another social and that way charge less, maybe £10 per head, and hire a less flashy venue.
Why are you getting flustered when people ask questions? If you expect people to pay, expect to have questions asked. If you can’t answer them honestly and quietly, don’t proceed with the social. You could have hired the Hibs Club for a lot less, and still had a good time. |

Absolutely agree! Have attended socials on this site for the last 14/15 years and never have we paid anything like this amount. There have been many Edinburgh socials with the venue giving exclusive use at half the price or less. There is absolutely no need for a pricing structure it is a social event which should be inclusive off all and at the same price for everyone. You stated there has been interest from 30 guys, how many does the venue hold? Are you having the same number of single women as single guys? It’s all very vague I’m afraid to say.  |

We recently hosted a successful & very well attended private event (around 70 people attended). The focus was on socialising for the 1st half & play allowed if wished in the 2nd half. Yes it was in a club, but a set rate of £10 was in place for all attending. All money went to the club. Yes, like any event,there was an over subscription of male interest, but there was no issue with even numbers as we ensured there was an even mix.
We are regular attendees at socials & never between aware of a mixed price structure. Generally most money paid is given back by way of a drink on arrival & food often provided too.

From where the poster asked if the free drink was ice cold water, there’s been 27 comments including some from yourself, and now suddenly (you like surprising folks huh ) you mention champagne - will it be a Heloise Lloris, Armand De Brignac or Prosecco? 
Also you mention that you have 30+ mails interested - is that emails or snail mail?

Of course they are… the hosts aren’t paying, even though they organised it, they want others to put their hand in their pockets, & nothing is free, certainly not the venue nor the drinks, not even the buffet - sausage on a stick anyone? |

Back to being you!! Wasn’t that a few weeks ago when you messaged after rethinking the prices and you asked if you could attend the social after slating it on here constantly!!!!!!! Which My answer to you was no people like yourself with too much to say and lists of negativity is not what we wanted attending. With almost all spaces taken for Saturday the price is only an issue to those who have never had any intention of attending like yourself. Thanks for your input and thanks for constant moaning about it on the forum it bumps it back to the top for me

"The glasgow ones I've been to have always been a private venue and you get your payment back as a drink at the start of the night. I even think I went to a few that had an amazing spread of food and everyone paid the same.

Hi Mr and Mrs, I'm not able to attend, would have loved to but I am away on holiday. I was only asking a question as to how you came up with the pricing structure. Your Co - hosts have messaged me to say that it is because there are more single males than females or couples and that they are more abusive when d*unk.
Surely the organisers will ensure an equal ratio.
As an aside the champers and buffet are not free, it looks like the singles are paying for most of it....
Of course they are… the hosts aren’t paying, even though they organised it, they want others to put their hand in their pockets, & nothing is free, certainly not the venue nor the drinks, not even the buffet - sausage on a stick anyone? "
That’s completely uncalled for! How do you know they are not paying? The hosts should not have to pay in my opinion regardless due to the time and effort spent into organising. I still believe everyone should pay the same price and my views on that will not change, however, I hope your night is a success. |

She knows nothing about the event or who’s payed or who hasn’t paid. People have there opinions on the price that’s fine don’t attend if it’s not for you. I am looking forward to the night and it’s a busy one so far so thank you x |

I was one of the first for being interested in attending right up until this thread was posted and suddenly out of nowhere they are asking for silly amounts of money to pay for a venue, three different amounts at that! The way I see it is the venue, will have a fee to be paid for that one night (it will be exclusive to that one group of people - that goes without saying - all venues being hired do this) A Fee, and it won’t be THAT expensive either as the amount of money brought in will be made from the drinks & cocktails being bought. So actual fee will be minimal. So I’m asking myself where is all this money that’s being asked for going? As others have said, other socials organised have had a price, but nothing over 10 quid at best, which is much more affordable with today’s costs all taken into account if they are expecting people coming who are not Edinburgh locals. I’ve seen people drop out who were otherwise interested in attending because it wouldn’t just cost £25 to come, it would be fuel cost & possibly a hotel too. That’s going nearer to £100 - £150! And not forgetting it’s club prices too for a ‘social’… why limit anyone? So yes I refused to go, I did temporarily change my mind…… but I can’t go anyway now (family), I haven’t said it but I will now, anyone who is going/plans to go, I hope you have a great time. To the organisers, I sincerely hope you have a good time too.

With almost all spaces taken for Saturday the price is only an issue to those who have never had any intention of attending like yourself. I have not “slated” it, just questioned the sudden cost. If you care to remember I was one of the first to be interested when you put out feelers for an Edinburgh social, but I felt it was unfair to have that & subsequent threads on it and never mention a price… not even a hint that there’d be a price attend. I’m also not the only one to mention it. Fair enough I probably have been a bug in your hair but that’s only because I feel strongly about it.
What makes you think I’ve never organised a social?
Anyway regardless - I hope your efforts was worth it and a great time is had, no hard feelings eh? |
