When did large and ample become curvy?
It seems that a lot of women self describe as curvy when they are quite clearly not.
To me curvy is big boobs, big ass and small waist. This seems at odds with some of the "curvy" women on here who have curves on top of their curves.

Why does it matter how a women wants to describe her figure? If she thinks she's curvy then so be it, I don't think any person has a right to be nasty because it doesn't fit their narrative of what something should be or not be...

I think from my pics and description on profile it says it all .
I choose fabulous because that's how I feel 
I know for a lot of people they see beauty in a dress size or Jean size .

I did describe myself as the fabulous option, which is code for fat. I later queried the choices with some fab friends and they felt I should use curvy so I have. I also state that I'm a size 18 in my profile so anyone who prefers slim women can pass me by.
Guess it's open to everyone's interpretation, it really doesn't bother me what anyone else chooses. |

Of course it applies to all sexes. As do all the other threads about self identification. Personally I prefer to keep expectations low. In the case of body image I put average though I’ve been told by many in person it should be slim or even athletic. But that all depends on how much junk food or beer I’ve had on a given day so pot-belly would be a good option.  |

To be fair i sorta agree with the OP..yes folk can say whatever they feel like they are but without pictures on their profile it could be a bit misleading..

The Oxford dictionary defines curvy as
"having curves.
(of a woman's figure) shapely and voluptuous"
And voluptuous is defined as "curvaceous and sexually attractive (typically used of a woman)".
You're questioning why women use the description when they don't conform to your own individual ideal of a curvy body, you say you class small waists and ample breasts/backside as curvy, so those who don't conform to that should not, in your eyes define themselves as such.
However the next person may believe that curvy is large breasted and small bottom. They're not automatically wrong just because they're different, it's subjective! |

I like rubenesque, curvaceous and voluptuous. In my mind I picture big boobs, big bum and lots of fun.

All of “Fabs” terms need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Can’t use dress sizes, they change shop to shop etc. I (mr) have always believed athletic build was decided if you had a 8 inch or more drop between your chest and waist for men.
If a person decides to call themselves curvy and you’re not attracted to them then just move on. It’s no loss to them. |

I’m not busty but I’ve always had a small waist/larger hip ratio. Some women may find it offensive to be labelled curvy, fabulous, etc.
If it’s a body shape that attracts you then it doesn’t matter what it gets called. Curvy isn’t new either. |

Ample, curvy, does it really matter? Surely it's all about the person inside, some ladies on the larger side, are stunningly beautiful and radiate fun and loveliness.
Am I fishing? Well I was with a lady who described herself as ample, and the above description suited her, at least most of the time, but sadly it deteriorated towards the end, but that's another story!! |

Miss dynamite and Vixen and all those other ladies here who describe themselves as curvy, fabulous, full figured, busty, ample etc etc you are more than that you are all absolutely gorgeous and beautiful.
Some like a 'curvy' 'ample' figure some don't it is irrelevant as long as you are happy with in yourself and find someone to love and adore you.

Obesity is measured on BMI, which is usually crudely calculated using height and weight. Doesn't measure body fat, muscle mass etc. Many Olympic athletes would be classed as obese based on the scale GP's use. It is no measurement of someones health, and certainly not of their attractiveness!! |

I’ve met guys with different body shapes, sizes, etc.
What we put on our profile is how we describe ourselves not what others think. We should all have the same options for body shape so everyone can choose what suits them best. It should be remembered that some people may have medical conditions or on medication that affects them. We should be positive and not body shaming anyone. |

Curvy means has curves.
You can be a size 8 and curvy and a size 28 and curvy.
Just because you think the dictionary definition should be “has curves and is under a size 16/14/whatever” doesn’t make you right.
It’s similar to people describing themselves as tall - where does that start?
It says more about someone when they think people above a certain size should have to describe themselves as they think appropriate, rather than just bypassing profiles that aren’t for them. |

Oh everyone is beautiful in their own special way.
Some more than others right enough.
Altho..before i get lynched i was no oil paining either.
When i was young i was that ugly that the baby picture in my dads wallet was the one that came with it from the shop.
