I'm an hour into my work day at home and I'm sat in my trackies, no make up on, munching toast and perusing Fab.
My to-do list grows by the day.
There's pros and cons lol |

What's "working from home"?
In my line of work it means - being the one of the few left at work, having to pick up the major issues that others should do (and get well paid for) but aren't here to actually do...
Oh and get feck all recognition for doing so...

And like to put food in my belly too.

The job is seriously varied and interesting - but over the last 16 months - I've had to cover for folk that should be here but aren't.
I now feel like I'm being taken for granted.
All the responsibilities, for fek all reward.
It is now an open sore, to the point that I have stopped dealing with things outwith my remit. Which is making me a tad unpopular... but after 16 months they can go dry fuck themselves. |

Sometimes the more you do the more is expected. You should be recognised for you're contribution and efforts over the past months.. |

I much prefer getting out and about, meeting people face to face.
E-mail and phone are all right, but in my job, it helps if you can actually see what the customer has, as distinct from what they think they have!! |

I don't get to work from home and have been working this whole entire time, but if I was working from home I doubt that there would be much work getting done, I would be in my pyjamas half assing everything taking a break every 30mins |

In all seriousness whilst I appreciate the pandemic proving flexible working is more achievable than many companies once claimed, it's been incredibly difficult to work from home.
From a personal perspective I've started a new job whilst wfh and found it incredibly isolating. I've missed out on building strong rapports with team members, with training and shadowing. It's hard to switch off after a days work, so there is blurred lines between the work/life balance. I've found it very difficult to do my job whilst home schooling and school holidays.
Professionally, my job requires me to engage with people in crisis, to build a person centred working relationship and be receptive to potential risks and issues. That's nearly impossible to do when I'm limited to phone calls, texts and video calls! I feel I can't do my job as well as I should be without meeting face to face.
I'd give anything for a blended approach at the moment but until GP surgeries start seeing patients in the flesh routinely again I'm stuck.
So whenever Teams crashes or my laptop freezes I vent my frustration on Fab!! |
