Because he is all spin and no substance, basically.

Did you see the interview with the BBC when he was asked what he would do on day one to deliver Brexit?

The plan, he said, is to have a plan.

Reminded me of Brexit means Brexit.

I totally get the fact his supporters are putting faith in his character.

Except when questions are asked of his character (e.g. the police call), they want to shut down any questions.

I heard a Tory commentator on telly say this is the last roll of the dice for the party. They need a six, otherwise they are finished.

Either way, he is fucked - ram through a No Deal and he is fucked; shelve Brexit and he is fucked.

He may just do something off the wall, though, and opt for a mandate via a referendum .

How many times does the EU need to repeat its position - the only thing open to change is the political declaration - before people realise the next PM is trapped in the same mess as the last one?

It reads as a confused interview.

Or is that a creative ambiguous interview?

If we can't agree anything with the EU we fall back on no deal. But that needs eu agreement.

And if we can't agree an implementation period we will rely on an implementation period.

But we can negotiate a new deal. Despite what the eu say. Because the world has change. Like the 39bn.which was always there. And the 29 TBP Meps... Up 5 from 24 ukip meps in 2014. Game changer. Especially as lib dems also gained 9. So arguably our representation has become more pro eu overall.

We will have a soft border using technology which doesnt yet exist. And needs to be agreed with the EU. Oh and Ireland would have to move from eu rules to UK rules. So pushing the issue to the eire border with the EU. Will they really accept that?

All in all, there seemed to be no real appetite or solution for a true no deal situation....

I hope the masses are listening...

It's probably because both he and his spin team know that he'll make a right arse of himself.

He'll get slaughtered in front of a camera and interviewer.

I do have some sympathy on the reported 'domestic' thing though, all couples argue and shout at times. That's their own private business. . .

Well take a look at the papers to see who’s face is all over every front page and all without pandering to the press for debates ect and where is hunt ? Oh a couple of pages behind his

I think he has played a blinder by just not cow towing to the media and jumping when they say jump.

The tv stations want to make a show out of it all for ratings nothing more, they don’t care about anything else just who can dig the best dirt.

The debates should be to party members at venues around the county because they are the ones who get the vote on who thier next leader is nobody else.

It would be the same for any other party in power at the time

Yes but look at it from their perspective, he has no plan other than my force of character will sort it..

He and his team are pushing his character and its inevitable that his past deeds which are down to that will not go away..

His answers on brexit are ill prepared, plain wrong on some of the relevant sticking points or wishy washy and along the lines of trust me as I can trot out Churchillian clichés and sound bites..

Central

Boris persistently refusing to answer pertinent, reasonable questions in a clear, credible way is reflective of much of what is known of him, from his working life, much in a public service role. He has appeared to have shown deficits in honesty, reliability, intelligence (emotional and general), leadership, good judgement and respect for his duties as a public servant. He'd generally need to have those attributes, in order to support him being credible and capable - and an unwillingness to respond to simple questions could be him trying to bluff his way, which could help to prevent others knowing the truth.

Let's take the London Garden Bridge as an example of one of his former undertakings. Towards £60 million of public funds spent, despite not a single brick ever being laid. Johnson's failings in this highlight severe deficits in many of those attributes I've listed - despite this, he still refuses to accept responsibilities for his failings - even trying to foist blame onto the new Mayor Khan, who had been saddled with £21 million of Johnson's contractually signed off spending.

A good leader would be very willing to accept responsibility, including for mistakes - it helps them to also lead things out of failure, into success. If someone isn't by nature honest, particularly intelligent or have judgement, then this will limit their abilities to manage things well, communicate their plans (if they can even make any!!), or appreciate why others expect such information and qualities in them.

He's probably a narcisstic person, who doesn't have empathy and respect towards others. He's in everything exclusively for what it will give him - and have zero interest in what atrocities it may mean for you.

What information he has given out recently upon himself and Brexit: and it's been very limited, as he's hidden from the public, has emphasised that his thought processes are flawed. His brexit plan is not workable and it's very simple to understand why it's not workable. Whether he's been too lazy to invest much effort, whether his limited intelligence prevents him from understanding why his facile plans are incorrect, or whether his other serious personality flaws limit why he's unwilling or unable to answer very simple points, isn't as important as that he's just z rated and a serious menace to society. There's some awareness somewhere that he's not fit for the job - it may be within his team who are effectively controlling him and he's complying with their restraints. But he will not stop his pursuit of what he wants, because that is the only thing that he has respect for.

"Having heard a clip on Lbc... Did he know the candid pub picture was being printed? And when was it taken?

Because it is a new picture to emerge and is now being used to prove that all is sunlight and roses in the BoJo household.

So when was it taken? Is it staged? And how did it get into the public eye?

Most likely the reason BoJo is refusing to answer questions is because it is an old picture that was staged/framed at the time of taking and either BoJo or someone very close to him has fed it to a sympathetic news outlet in order to deflect from yet another one of the personal shit-storms that envelop BoJo at regular intervals.

One is a journalist who has made a career out of media manipulation to create an impression.

The other is a spin doctor who has made a career out of media manipulation to create an impression.

Spin has got them so far up the greasy pole.

Now they want the keys to No. 10.

That brings a whole different level of scrutiny.

Spin is no substitute for substance.

And on that score, Johnson is spectacularly unqualified.

The fakery is being exposed quicker than anyone could have imagined.

Because generally he is asked questions that based on his previous statements that now he has to face head on will make him look like a complete and utter lying twat.

So if he skirts round the question without answering then he does not and cannot drop himself in the shit.

It still means he's a complete and utter lying twat but If he brings Brexit then many people don't give a shit.

"Have you also noticed it? He always talks about something else when they they try to ask a serious question."
At this stage the key issue is that he becomes leader of the Conservative party. Some questions may be trick questions so it is wise not to answer them.

If anyone has a real interest in a particular issue I am sure that if they wish to become a fully paid up member of the Conservative party , someone will answer them for him.

The job of Boris is to catch votes , not answer questions on tv shows .

When he is elected leader, he will have a very capable team beneath him to answer questions or research them on his behalf.

I'm guessing by trick question you mean a hard one?

For me it's intriguing that people will vote for someone who won't answer questions (trick or otherwise) and this is seen as a better way of catching votes.

It's interesting you think his team will help when PM. Why aren't they helping now do the research? Like gatt 24. Which is discounted on the HoCs own website.

And I'm presuming this team is more than his fellow MP's and civil service. As they are already there and apparently failing.

Otherwise what is changing with Boris? We're going to get a PM who can't get a better deal, won't do interviews or debates, and won't be able to take the Hoc with them.

Deja vu?

Better hair tho. And he uses Latin.

Hunt is doing something similar by pushing his entrepreneur background in an attempt to represent himself more a peoples man than a politician.

He's had no "trick questions" asked of him Pat, anyone with any resemblance of common sense knows he's only been asked very straight forward questions.

I agree his private life is just that and doesn't need to be delved into but his refusal to engage in questions where he's previously lied about something and then refuses to engage to clear it up is quite shameful.

The reason that he won't give comprehensive answers is that he doesn't need to.

He will win unless he gets really caught out.

While he can remain vague, people spend more time asking about the easy basics and he can deflect the rest.

As far as most Tory members are concerned, he can fall in a cow pat and still smell of Cologne.

And he will carry on like gbsi while people believe he will truly deliver Brexit in October. We're playing a game of buckeroo (buckeu?) where we are slowly removing something which will soften a no deal Brexit. At some point the masses will twig there is next to no crash mat, and will panic.
