...what does that tell you about:
The British people?
The British Electoral System?
The British press/media's control on the populace?
Or anything else.

If May does win it says the British people deserve every bit of the draconian regime that May has promised. After all she has said it will be necessary to remove our freedoms as guaranteed in human rights legislation to protect us from terrorist attacks. Of course the fact that that is exactly what those attacks were designed to do is of no interest to Ms May. After all she is the modern Mussolini to the Donald's Hitler.

That the democratic will of the people has spoken, right or wrong it matters not, just because some dont like the result and blame it on the media is just a sign they dont like democracy, for every bit of "media" propaganda for one side its easy to find one for the other |

You really do have a strangely nieve view of the world. Surely Pat on here alone is enough to convince even you of the power of the newspapers? You think he is the only one in the country that thinks like that?

No government left of centre has won an election in the UK for about 40 years. So it shows me why the British people are so successful, wealthy and powerful and respected etc etc etc. And have such an amazing country, unlike the many left wing hell holes in the world.
Although we will see if this changes tomorrow. |

Strong words, but it's nice to see someone write positively about our country. Read far too many posts recently that sound like we are all doomed. There's a reason why people like to migrate to the UK. There are worse places in the world to live. |

" It simply means that we live in a free society , everyone has had the opportunity to evaluate the strengths are weaknesses of each party and assess their past performance.
Should Teressa May win , the voice of common sense has prevailed and it clearly indicates that the electorate are not naive enough to fall for a series of uncosted promises.
The consequences of Teressa May not winning are too dire to contemplate . The policies proposed by Jeremy Corbyn would destroy the economy . |

But making it harder for the UK to trade and do business with out closest, biggest and richest business partners in the EU is somehow going to be good for the economy. How does that work? |

Here is a BASIC TRUTH for every Tory supporter to understand...
You are voting to support the policies and beliefs of the NATIONAL FRONT as published in their 1974 manifesto...

Now it is time for you all to stand up and make your NAZI salute...

Feeling uncomfortable voting for what your father or grandfather frighted and maybe died to make sure did not happen?
Then DON'T vote conservative!

..If Herr May and her Neo Nazi polices sound good vote conservative and don't complain when you are targeted by her |

Unless you can actually show which NF policies from 1974 you're actually talking about, this post is just a waist of space. |

Absolutely! We don't live in the UK but it doesn't stop us admiring it for the great country it is
The negativity thrown at ones own country on here is astonishing!
How about showing some positivity and optimism for your great country and its future, instead of blaming the media, the politicians or Brexit for the black hole, some of you constantly hold your heads in
Your future is bright! ...... So positive energy to you all - whoever wins your elections |

Being optimistic is when you put forward plans that could work however unlikely. Putting forward plans that you know can't work is simply lying. I'm beginning to think that if Jeremy had put forward the £350 million you'd be calling that just being optimistic to. The reality is there is more truth in the £350 million than in Jeremy's £50 billion.
But he's learnt the lesson well from the BREXITers. Tell the people what they want to hear, dismiss the expert advice as irrelevant or elitist and pile in the votes. Left or right it's still populist bullshit and you know it to. |

You go around calling the tories Nazis which is stupid to any reasonable person and frankly insulting to jewish people, especially when labour has people like ken livingstone in it.
I'm simply pointing out to you that the track record of the far left is as abhorrent as the far right. Calling yourself a marxist is as disgraceful as calling yourself a facist.

That said, please ensure you read up on this Tory administrations view on the internet and cyber security.
Many people say a vote for the tories is a vote for a free society. It is however a vote for allowing a government to try and regulate software development and what is published on the web, and what is censored and what is not.
Many software developers openly say new regulations will reducure britains attractiveness as a 4th gen tech hub...which we have only just started to become.
Plus if you are voting for any political party to have free reign and the power to limit your freedom of access of the internet, and gifting them the right to censor, you are in part viting for George Orwells nightmare with a modern twist. |

That would be fine with me, or just more centre policies. The 2001 election was nice, didn't really mind who won. 1997 was awesome. The further left labour go, the further right the tories go. Whoever wins, we all lose. |

No I point out that todays conservative platform is exactly the same as that of the Nation front in the 1970's...
In the 1970's it was overwhelmingly recognised as being Neo NAZI but now we put it in a t suit its suddenly centre/centre right politics and the One Nation (mixed economy) conservatism of Alec Douglas-Home and Ted Heath has become communism!
Don't look at me. Look at yourself. Critically! |

Here's my view on the result, whatever it may be , excuse the pun.
I went to bed on the night of the referendum on Brexit thinking. Oh this'll just be a storm in a teacup. We'll vote to remain and in no time it'll all be forgotten. Imagine my disappointment the next day when the vote to leave was announced.
I thought oh shit, now we've done it. But thought. Oh well. The majority have their way and we have to accept, embrace and make the best of it.
However some people don't think like that after an election. They carp and moan and refuse to accept it was a vote that went their way. The next stage of accepting Brexit is to have politicians in charge that may muddle and fuck it up somewhat but at least they'll have tried, rather than constantly moan and carp about it or say we're not doing this or not doing that.
I just hope whoever wins takes that approach, grows some balls and works to bring us together and somehow makes us all a bit richer in the next 5 years coz I am fed up of not having a pay rise. I am on the same money as I was 9 years ago so inflation will have made me loads poorer in real terms, so stick that up your pipe and smoke it if you think 1% smells a bit.

It is not scaremongering all. They don't have to censor everything, they just have to make it awkward enough that it becomes less desirable to develop software and technology in the UK.
However, on the plus side, the government's draconian view on censorship is surpassed by their incompetence to implement anything that would be meaningful.

I agree and disagree. Yes it cannot be fully censored - but with increasing technologies it will gradually become easier to police and limit leakage of information.
What we must remember is that unlike china, we have close and good relations with the owners of search engines and internet providers. It makes the task far easier, atleast from what is produced within our own brandwidths. |

Agreed. Though I do think at this point it would be benifical for both to collapse. Both have too many links with old ideologies which are either imoral or unworkable.

I dont agree with that last point. In china they use chinese search engines. No business in china is truly independent of the state. "
That's my point though, most search engines we use are US based or owned. In reality its a case of, if you want to operate here, you need to allow us to gain something out of it.
China does not need to worry about that, as, as you said no company is independant of the state. |

"All Im going to say is that I do not like any of the options presented. I might be a leftie but I just dont think I can buy into corbyn.

It is not scaremongering all. They don't have to censor everything, they just have to make it awkward enough that it becomes less desirable to develop software and technology in the UK.
However, on the plus side, the government's draconian view on censorship is surpassed by their incompetence to implement anything that would be meaningful.

Well this true especially the last part.
Last months new scientist magazine published an article on the subject of A.I, robotics, software and cybersecurity, the bottom line is that britain is way behind and the three main parties are paying lip service but have no collective understanding.
Because labour hate business and producitivity and conservatives prefer to skim off the top of existing lucratic industries that don't improve living standards. Neither have any incentive to support future growth industries. "
Want to start a new political party? :P I think we understand issues far better than the rest. |

Sadly that will never change. All parties are set to gain under this system and members of the public would never vote for a system in which their vote counts less thsn others, or might.
Plus how would you even tally up the votes. |

I think its hardly in question that large sections of the British population are manipulated by the traditional news media. The extent of how successful that manipulation is though is questionable.
I know we also regularly see attacks the BBC for being biased towards the left and claims that they are manipulating people and as I was interested in this. When I tried to track down any credible research into this I found to studies the first was performed by Dr Latham for the Center for Policy Studies. They are described on Wikipedia as 'The Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) is a free-market British policy think tank whose goal is to promote coherent and practical public policy, to roll back the state, reform public services, support communities, and challenge threats to Britain’s independence.[1] Although identified as non-partisan, the Centre has strong historical links to the Conservative Party.' Dr Latham based his study on the number of times the think-tanks cited in the Daily Telegraph were referenced in news reports compared to those cited in the Guardian between 2010 and 2013. Strangely for work at least published by CPS this decided that the BBC was biased towards the left.
The other study I came across was by ardiff University Lecturer Mike Berry. This research was funded by the BBC Trust as part of an ongoing series of studies examining the impartiality of its reporting in areas such as regional news, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Arab Spring, business and science, so depending on your poont of view could have been directed towards finding impartiality. In his analysis Berry compared the air time given to representatives of each major party and found in the study periods, Conservative politicians were featured more than 50% more often than Labour ones and therefore the BBC does not lean to the left it actually provides more space for Conservative voices.
Now both the left and right wing think-tanks have tried to discredit the findings of the studies they don't like but personally I think that there is probably a natural bias in the BBC towards whichever party (or parties) are currently in power which may be expected when the government has power over the BBC's ongoing funding but I'm also quiet sure that whatever the truth is the constant attacks over bias by the right are far less justified than many think. |

Doing a quick bit of Googling on this it seems most of the breakdowm analysis comes from a charity who specialise in this sort of political research, the National Centre for Social Research. I can't find an further information on the political bias or lack of for this organisation. As may be expected the survey size used in this case is relatively small, probably less than 10000 people so like other political polls may have large margins of error. |

"You go around calling the tories Nazis which is stupid to any reasonable person and frankly insulting to jewish people, especially when labour has people like ken livingstone in it.
I'm simply pointing out to you that the track record of the far left is as abhorrent as the far right. Calling yourself a marxist is as disgraceful as calling yourself a facist.
Only an imbecile goes around calling people holocaust deniers for pointing out the genocides that far left carried out.
Critically!"
You've said once before that the Conservatives are fighting on the same policies as the National Front did in the 70s and I will ask you again to point out what those policies are? I will also expect, as last time, no direct answer to the question from you. |
