mods are not the only scooter riders some were just plain scooter boys then you had your skins then you had the psychobillys and then you had the 50s nuts who like scooters too was a great scene as it accepted anyone my hubs is more rockin /psychobilly who had alot of scooter mates alway went to rallies with them for bands like king kurt / the meteors... great scene op and lots of great live music |

I've spent the last 13 years on sports bikes. Just bought an Indian Scout Bobber for a change and absolutely love it. Miss the speed and thrill of a sports bike but my bobber still makes me smile |

Because they are boring and slow. Man has been obsessed with speed since the beginning of time. Scooters are part of a scene....a dated scene....something that has never progressed with the times. It's still stuck in the past and everyone who loves them are in a time warp.
Move with the times folks. The music has changed, the clothes have changed and the bikes have changed....change with them and stop being stuck in the 60's |

And can I just add that all my piss taking at the start of this thread was a bit of tongue in cheek banter. You lowered the tone massively with your disregard to mobility scooters. Not once have you attempted to apologise to the people you have offended but you've managed to come back and defend your "scooter culture"?!?!?! |

We all enjoy a bit of banter, but your posts are assumptive and outdated (oh the irony).
Scooters have evolved over the past 100 years in just the same way as bikes, we see two stroke, four stroke, carburetted injected, reed valve, rotary induction, abs, traction control etc.
I have far more respect for riders who build, restore, tune and customise their bikes than someone who buys and rides indian impersonations.
Speed is not an issue, most scooters will hold a cruise at the speed limit.
Where's the fun though if you don't have 10" between your legs.
Any scene, as you call it, always appears odd to the outsider, if you haven't experienced it you wouldn't know.
You have no idea what music I listen to or enjoy, nor the clothes I wear, generalised assumptions show an ignorance.
A suggestion, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. |

The scooter world is a broad church. From people restoring their 40s rod models to others building mad choppers or drag racers. The music and clothes must cover just about everything and everyone. Maybe mod and scooters will always be seen as the ideal couple but the scooter scene is so much bigger. If someone doesn't want to change the way they do things and aren't hurting others then leave them be. KTF |

I do apologize for the comment about disability scooters , and I hope nobody got too huffy ,yes the scooter and hot rod community and vdub lot is a mixed lot ,and long live it the sand racing at bridlington was ace last year , and If you have a pink scooter with tassles good for you ,but your not my type thankyou |

The mod scene is supposed to be "stuck" in the 60's, its the whole point of it. Dressing differently to what people wear today, listening to original blues, RnB, jazz and soul. The attention to detail we take in getting the look correct is immense. And no,we dont shout out "we are the mods".
The scooter was adopted by mods as it was cheap to buy and afforded a certain amount of protection to clothing along with a parka (which was a neccesity not a fashion statement). Also being cheap to buy and run monet could be spent on clothing.
However, comments like spaz chariots belong in the stone age and the OP should know better. |

I've got a sil gp200 and a Spanish li190 cutdown although I love the mod scene and yes I do know a few of the nuts DJs , yes its not all about quadrophenia and more its a scene most people don't get and on that note I apologize for what my country did during the war happy camping prog rockers |

CBA getting huffy but just be aware that people with disabilities, including wheelchair/scooter users are everywhere and many such people my age are very sensitive about the fact they can't walk far/at all. I'm in my mid 30s and was until about 3yrs ago perfectly able bodied. As it happens, I couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks about my wheelchair, nor do I take offence at the insensitive and frankly ignorant language aimed at people like me every day of the week. I ignore it and overtake them
Just let's hope no-one hurls such language at you, OP, if you ever have the misfortune of needing a mobility device. |
