Following on from the greatest frontperson thread:
Name a musical artist formerly in a famous band/musical act whose solo material is/has been better than their work in their previous act.
By way of example; Whilst Wham were incredibly fun and produced some admittedly great hits, the very sadly missed George Michael’s subsequent solo work for me at least, eclipsed anything he did with Andrew Ridgeley.
