They say everyone has a book in them (how did it get there?! ) - have you written or thought about writing a book? Would it be a fantastical adventure, or a retelling of something that’s happened? What author do you think you’d write like, or hope to? |

I've written some bad poetry in the past but I definitely think I have a book in me. It'll be a satiral retelling of some of my past experiences, embellished and re-imagined.

I wouldn't write a book personally although I do write. What I write is usually thoughts, feelings and nonsense. Sometimes its poetry or just a couple of lines. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to other people. |

Pica?
I probably have several (no, not because of pica)
I write in the Stories and Fantasies section and am branching out to other things in other places. I'm more naturally drawn to fiction of one kind or another.
I'm probably too much of a perfectionist to make anything of it, though. |

I got a crazy little bit warped imagination but the stuff thsts happened in the last 3 years would make one hell of an action suspense romance thriller more an on running netfix series |

I'd probably do a survival book. Not like a bear grylls type but a if shit happens in life there's a way out. I grew up in an abusive house and my ex was abusive. It took a long time, in fact it's a work in progress, to escape x |

I’ve thought about it quite often.
I’ve done some pretty crazy stuff and am sure it would be an interesting read.
It would start off with some funny teenage fumbles and d*unken lad stuff.
The middle bit would be full of travelling, rugby adventures and kink and the current stuff would be more serious relationships and life changes with a huge dollop of throuple adventures.
As for an author and writing style I can only explain it like this.
Sam
Aged 11 to 38.
(But I’d imagine more like the writing of sam aged 11) |

Yes, will do my memoirs one day.
The only sir to grow up on a tough south london council estate, due to being switched at birth by a d*unk nurse in the baby ward.
Becoming a bare knuckle fighter and gangland enforcer. Terms in prison.being on the run. Running clubs in Spain and Miami.finding God, starting a cult, to then finding out who my real parents are and becoming a titled man about town.
I think a few would read it

I’d probably do it like Adrian Mole diary and about the age I would start it 13 3/4
I definitely wouldn’t have it published mind, way to much I wouldn’t wish to share with others, my own personal comedy come drama |

Sadly I don’t think many people would believe the person who clawed his way to the UK from poverty is the person who I am today.
It would be put in the fiction section alongside Flowers in the Attic. |

I’ve written seven books, and I’m working on number eight. It’s my favourite thing to do. I would encourage everybody to write. You can never be too good at communication, and writing helps you express yourself. Go do it people, there is nothing stopping you! Xx |

I started writing a book thirty years ago about a boy who wanted to be a wizard who lived in a foster home in a cupboard......but I left the notebook with all my ideas on a bench on a platform at Kings Cross. No idea what happened to it or if anyone picked it up.
Keep meaning to start writing it again as I think it could be a real winner.

I disagree with your other people are more interesting. Your book would show your strength, tenacity, compassion, resilience, and would be a beacon of hope to mental health sufferers. Your an amazing mum and you love cats. What's not to love ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I've thought about it before. There are two I'd quite like to write one day - one would be a tales of sexual shenanigans style of book (horny student to not so hotwife!) buuut, I can't really write, the market is saturated with that sort of thing and there's a heap of whole other reasons too long to go into.
What would you write OP?

I am more a short story writer. I have been to creative writing classes which I found very useful.
There are certain themes that run through my writing that I think stem back to my childhood and early experiences and there's one particular fictional story that needs to get out of my head but is taking a long time to come together. |

I wrote one, it was bad, I switched to short stories and after a while I understood the scaffolding that a story needs so much more.
Would recommend that route to anyone ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Short story writing is good discipline too. Lots of authors tend to use too many words, limiting yourself to for example 500 can really concentrate your mind on telling the story rather than describing the setting |

I want to write a Moll Flanders type novel about a woman's sexual adventures using some of the people I've met as character sketches. As my time as a full time mother comes to an end maybe I should start sketching it out. I haven't written anything for years and I do miss it sometimes. |

DH Lawrence was an absolute master at short stories (as I'm sure you know) and they often work better than his novels for me. I think it's a very undervalued genre. |

Agreed. I read a lot of his stuff in my twenties, I must reread some of it. |

I like detective novels and also fantasy stories. I reckon if I were to write in the style of someone it might be Lee Childs. I would hope my book would have my own style though. I've never written a book but I've tried the odd short story one of which I put online years ago. If I were to write a book now I think it would have to be some sort of behind enemy lines action story. |
