"I have never understood the fascination some people have of sitting in a tub of water to clean themselves when that water itself will be full of dirt.
Why do people do it?"
You really are obsessed! |

A hot tub is no worse than a public swimming pool. |

Do you know what chlorine is and how it works? It's put into swimming pools you see and people go swimming for leisure and usually have a shower to clean themselves.
A bath tub is usually used to clean oneself yet that's seems contradictory to me. |

It’s relaxing.
I don’t often have a bath, but when I do, I end with a shower anyway because I clean the bath with the shower |

I'm picturing someone like Niles Crane, wiping seats down with a hanky |

It’s very relaxing and I’m not very dirty before I have a bath anyway and triply, the ‘dirt’ was already on me anyway. |

Alone a bath is relaxing, a good place for peaceful reflextion and/or problem solving.
With another person a bath is a good place to connect, not only sexually. But washing each other down sensually can be very relaxing and arousing.
When i have a bath i usually rinse with the shower afterwards.
Highly recommend just chilling in the bath alone or otherwise.

It's your own skin and when you get out of the bath it doesn't come with |

maybe your bath is full of dirt, mine is washed fully after use and I love to add "Radox Aromatherapy bath salts" Lavender which smells good and feels good to lay back in after a hard day.
I shower each morning, in a spotless clean shower, and bath each night in a very clean bath
everyone to their own, |

I'm inclined to agree with the op. It's a bit odd to enjoy wallowing in your own filth. Especially if you had a pee in there too (and anyone who says they never did is only kidding themselves) |
