Somewhere In The Ether…

So....after a few days of gargantuan gormandising, I got on the scales earlier and found that they have gone wrong.

Bloody hell! Almost a full stone out they now are!......erm....

Can anyone here beat my mighty weight gain?

There’s a prize of an empty box of Quality Street (I ate the contents, obviously) for anyone who can top it

It would surely be wrong to not take some every time one passes it, right?

Update: I have two big jars of pickled eggs here.

I’m feeling too bloated and lethargic to exercise with any great vigour.

Would anyone cate to join me in my exclusive new diet routine that I’ve just this minute devised?

I’m calling it pickled egg Pilates. It’s sure to be awesome (with a possible side effect of increased flatulence)

Pretty much all of it will be fluid and glycogen, not actual tissue gained.

"Pretty much all of it will be fluid and glycogen, not actual tissue gained.

What's glycogen?"

Carbohydrates stored in the liver and muscles. Each gram of glycogen holds roughly 4g of water.

It's why when people start a diet and cut out carbs they see dramatic weight loss in the first few weeks. It's just glycogen being depleted and the water it holds leaving the body, not actual weight.

It's also why if you eat a high carb meal such as pizza you can wake up the next day 4lb heavier. It's just carbs and water stored in the body.

That explains why I was dashing for a wee more often when I cut down on carbs as advised by my consultant. Thanks for a clear and understandable explanation

Probably just water weight. Salt, sugar and carbs make you retain water. Give it a few days, drink lots of water (sounds counterintuitive but it will flush your system) and most of it will have come off again

It's a beginner thing, half price, need to get fitter etc etc so doing that

Bound to be a place close by that does the same.

I know around here they do female only classes.

Wasn't impressed with the scales. Put on 4lb that I couldn't afford to put on

Annoyed as I've been working most of it so not done any over indulgence. I have been ill and less active and had a change in contracteption.

I've joined to to rebelfit which is about getting healthy over dieting. It starts on the 13th I'm excited to start it.
