Who is going to the gym this week?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Continue here, it is interesting to see what we all are doing and what is your fitness goal? I am going this week and I went this morning and I did a full body workout.

I go 3 times a week and I do full body workouts and my goal is to bulk up. I track my macros everyday and I eat about 3000 calories daily. I use mynetdiary to log it, it is a fun and an interactive app.

What motivates you to go? I like to watch alot of training videos and I follow few utubers like nick wright, thomas maw and I like as well 3d abs with the great dane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmGfHk46OSU

My DOMS has just peaked from my Christmas Eve workout. My personal trainer is a sadist!

What motivates me is I genuinely enjoy it. If I'm feeling lazy I can motivate myself to go by reminding myself how sore I get if I neglect going too much.

I'm taking this week off just because

My goals are bulking up a bit, that may change to speed based work later. Motivation-wise I like when I can finally see results and like things I see in the mirror more than I did ... also pre-workout is a good motivator to train or not sleep that night

The time between Christmas and New Year is always very busy for me, and I always account this into my (lack) of training for the last 10 days of December. As it happens, I was ill with the Noro virus, so missed the week before Christmas too.

I am setting myself till the end of January (I was due to test in December, but I took ill) to complete the Russian Kettlebell Certification Kettlebell Snatch Challenge, so I've got a lot of work to do and I'm getting back on it from tomorrow (in a light way to avoid major DOMS).

Wish me luck....

Happy early new year to everyone.

I'm thinking of joining a gym. I've always run and done fitness classes up to now but would like to start using weights to complement that.

However, I'm 10.5st and working towards ultramarathons and gymnastics rather than pulling a lorry. Any advice on getting started in what seems like quite a daunting area?

Yep. I think I experienced almost every gym annoyance today. I also had a guy staring at me and two guys who kept walking across where I was doing my walking lunges as they were argueing over attachments for the cable machine. One guy had taken a whole collection with him to be fair .

My goals... I started because I thought I should. Then injured myself badly and lifelong consequences etc, which lit a fire under me. Now, the gym helps with the ongoing pain, I've come to love it, and I want to smash past my limitations and see what I'm capable of.

@shagtonight, what formula did you use to calculate your macros/calories?

I'm on a 3-4 session a week push/pull/legs programme, with some circuits in there too. Started a new circuit block last night and it was great. Brutal, but great!

Try my fitness pal and then adjust your protein percentage up 5 or 10 percent

Full body today

Cheers, mate - that's great. It was more working out where to pitch my calories for maintenance (or bulking/cutting). I've seen so much conflicting stuff that really vary.

I always stuck as close to 1g of protein per lb of lean bodyweight so confident I'm enough most days...?! So confusing!

PT intro session done. Went well. I reckon he can probably sort out my terrible technique and help me shift this excess pork I've acquired over the last year or two. My signing up for a course depends on what my GP says tomorrow. I found out today I have a nerve impingement caused by a spinal problem I didn't know I had!

I've got about 8 - 9 stone to lose and I want to tone as I go x

I’ll be back on it next week!

Spent months living with parents whilst my family found a new house, then 4 weeks spending every spare hour renovating the entire thing. The gym got totally sacked off.

Looking forward to getting back in the saddle and eating right.

Managed a short cardio and legs session today. Shoulder is hurting, so I'm avoiding working it for a few days until it eases off. More importantly, I've sorted a PT. An hour a week for 12 weeks on top of two unsupervised gym sessions, daily cycle commute and twice-weekly lunchtime HIIT sessions should be enough for the time being, I reckon...

I braved the hip adductor machine for the first time. I've been putting it off as badly injured them in my right leg years ago and still have a lot of tightness there so I'm dreading that over the next few days.

Also did leg press, some lunges and leg extensions. I have a nice warmth in my quads now, I'll enjoy it until it turns to an ache .

I wouldn't recommend foam rollering your bollocks.
