near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Which to be honest is probably wasted on those who merely want to just watch and anlyize the race from the ordinary pictures. The background eg what has happened in the time between races, weather conditions and their effects etc. is usefull I`ll admit but once those red lights go out ........

Those with Sky will say it's better and those without will say the BBC should have it all.. (Generalisation)

I don't really care as I stopped watching it when instead of racing it became line astern! Also, when they made it possible to win a race in the pits, instead of racing!

Like all reality shows, I believe it is mildly fixed.. Red bull now not as quick as they were? Oh yes, they have had to remove that gizmo they had! (after two years!) And look, what better headline than Mercedes and Rossberg win the race today! Shades of Red Bull two years ago?

Then surely they won't click on those other options?.....after all as they are viewing options they are not compulsory to use.

Agreed! Which makes the money Sky are throwing at it a total waste!

Maybe not for the die hard F1 fans....of which there are undoubtably many judging by the increased stands they are having to build for the British Grand Prix by all accounts.....due to record crowds being expected.....so maybe not a total waste for many of them?

Which is the target audience SKY would have been aiming at....

I don't have SKY either and miss having Martin Brundle's coverage. Thank goodness the beeb were able to hang onto DC!

Fabulous coverage this morning on Sky. We were on the edge of our seats screaming for Button to 'go faster' after the disasterous pit stop.

Definitely one of the best races I've seen for a long time! I think next year they should just have two tyres to be used for the whole race. Much more exciting!

Murdock can go swivel, despair giving money to any of that government controlling, power crazy shits, company's

Coverage has been great since it came back to bbc from itv. Now that wankers got involved we get highlight packages for certain races. He killed football, cricket now he's got his sights set on F1

Newcastle and Gateshead

actually i am a freak in that i like a lot of the back ground stuff... so what they have done the practice sessions and qualifying has been great for me...

and with the extended coverage of GP2 which starts next weekend it suits me fine...

the thing that would top it off for me would be if they could get the NASCAR coverage back and put it on that channel... then it would be the true motorsports channel....

F1 is a business not a public service, and a billion dollar business at that....and as a business it has every commercial reason to sell the broadcasting rights to the highest bidder....which the BBC so painfully were not.

The BBC and subsequently the license payer, has no god given right to expect to have a life long contract to broadcast and view content for a pittance.....

People expect far too much out of life sometimes....

The argument that Channel 4 or ITV could possibly invest the money that Sky has into F1 coverage is futile and without basis....both ITV and Channel 4 are struggling financially, both have been disposing of assets over the last couple of years in order to balance the books.

The e petition isn't worth the time and trouble that has gone into it, the simple fact is this....the BBC had no other option than to enter into the joint agreement with Sky because Sky are the only broadcasters currently operating in the UK that can fund the continuation of the broadcasting rights for F1.

Without the Sky agreement in place the BBC would NEVER have got F1 broadcasting rights again in the future....they had to give a bit up to retain a bit....simple business sense.

Sky have invested fortunes in bringing F1 coverage up into the 21st century, neither the BBC, ITV, or Channel 4 could afford both the rights costs and the OB investment that Sky have brought to F1 in the UK....and once the British public have savoured the Sky coverage they are largely unlikely to revert to the 'belts and braces' approach from the BBC.

People crave technology, they want on demand coverage.....not one bloke on a camera trying to cover all the teams in the pits on his own.

dont want to start an argument in thread because thats not my thing. im sure that the sky platform has plenty to offer but it counts for nothing to people like myself who wont entertain sky purely on an ethical basis, which is what my point was in the first place.

Think news corp and murdock are pure evil, plenty of reasons for that, check all the stuff coming out of leveson. The panorama program a few weeks ago about news corps involvement in the downfall of on digital and mainly the uncomfortably close corrupting influence hes had on british politics for the past 30 years. we're supposed to live in a democracy if anyone cares anymore.

Dont know what sky has done to bring F1 up to the 21st century, but though the BBC were doing a good job with the platform they had. They gave the race/qualifying in HD, interactive forum, plenty of access to drivers and teams. Friday and saturday practice via the iplayer. plus five live if your out the house. what else do you actually need. GP2 does sound good though _abio

if you've got no qualms about news corp jane, then good luck to you. But people do and thats what infuriates us about this deal

Televised sport in the 21st Century is driven by public demand....they demand the best coverage, they are now getting that with Sky....multiple pit camera teams, on demand in car live drivers view (with or without commentary option), the best ever access to drivers and team leaders, far better graphics....

I don't follow F1, but the die hard fans who eat, drink, and live the sport are demanding premium coverage....and hunderds of thousands are prepared to pay for that privilage.

Lets not forget the thread was about the merits of the coverage....not about the morals of the Murdochs.

Let's not forget that ITV covered F1 for a season or two and it was shite.

To be fair, last year's BBC coverage was as good as it gets.

What rankles with me and the BBC sports coverage is why do they think we need to see/hear ex sportspeople rabbiting on, at length, both before and after any event. Just use the money to concentrate on the sport, and wider sports coverage like they used to with Wednesday nights Sportsnight.

i watch everything before and after the race. its very thorough and in depth. they have current drivers as well such as algersurie (how ever you spell it) and having a former team boss, driver and car designer is a big help and you get an inside insight into what it going on. the sky coverage seems very forced even though most of them are ex bbc. they dont seem to demmand the same respect that BBC do when they go around the paddock. even the highlights show on bbc isnt lacking. you dont miss anything at all. ive watched the sky one and its a bag of cat piss
