So I recently went on Amazon and only now realised dvds are pretty much obsolete.

When did that happen?

I don't have Netflix or any other paid streaming service are they even worth it?

Thanks I do for now I get them another way if you catch my drift but you can't get every movie and show on 1 streaming platform can you?

So are any of you on more than 1?

And can you record or save shows like you could with VHS and Dvds?

Exactly I rather still buy dvds and have copies of shows than go to a mediumless format which is streaming.

I have virgin and you can record/save shows on the box but eventually it will fill up and that's when I wished I could have a way to save stuff to DVD instead and have a permanent copy.

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

I stream all my tv and movies. Probably close to 10 years since I bought a DVD. I don't miss DVDs at all. Living in quite a small flat a big collection would be a pain to store.

That said, I do miss CDs, and it's even longer since i bought one of those. When I was a teenager I used to love opening the case to see the shiny disc and looking through the little booklet thingy. Plus I probably have more of a sentimental attachment to music than films it tv, so it was nice to have a hard copy.

We rotate - a couple of months of each: Netflix, Amazon, Nowtv.

We rarely want to watch anything twice but if you do just revisit it, no need to save it!

We don't have terrestrial TV, we live on a boat and keeping an aerial aligned is a pita. We started with Netflix but switched to Amazon because for the same money we got prime deliveries. To be honest we don't watch it much, it's mainly for visitors.

I bought a few DVDs from CEX yesterday for between 50p-£1 for things I couldn’t get online. I have Netflix and prime but use Netflix more. Once I’ve watched these DVDs I take them back to CEX. You only lose 20/50p per disc and that’s a fair price.

thanks for the replies everyone.

With the new Disney+ coming to the UK next year I wondered whether all these streaming services would become costly but it seems as long as you sign to 1 at a time and move around then it can be enjoyed.

Just feels a shame not being able to own and collect dvds as we once were able to and simple rent something that is on the virtual cloud.

It's crazy that DVD's and blu ray are pretty much obsolete now, it only seems like a few years ago that I was replacing all my VHS tapes with discs which felt so modern at the time! I used to be proud of my huge collection of films.

I use Netflix mainly and have a firestick as well that I use for streaming.

You can pick up dvds for pennies from 2nd hand shops.

I've got a massive collection.

Just got John wick 1+2, solo, rogue one, suicide squad, guardians of the galaxy 1+2 for £3.50!!

Den of Iniquity

It's a pain when you've accumulated over 800 DVDS , and now I haven't watched one in around 2 years .

I have a Firestick with Kodi , and Netflix so I have a shagload of DVDS gathering dust
