No, they've always been brown.
Seriously though, i was at the opticians yesterday.
"Can you read the bottom line?" says he. Left eye was fine, right eye not so, there was this weird shit drifting across my vision: floaters he tells me, i knew i should have flushed twice.
As if that's not bad enough he tells me i need reading glasses or varifocals, fuck that, more expense, it goes against my Yorkshire sensiblities. Anyway, i can still read a number plate at 75 yards and spot a dandelion at 20 paces so i think i'll leave it, thanks all the same. Damn this aging process. |

I went because I lost my night vision in one eye. Apparently I'm mildly short sighted in that eye but not enough to need glasses in the daytime. I just have to keep an eye on if I'm struggling driving at night. |

About 6 months ago I moved so etching I was struggling to read closer, which didn't help - in fact made it worse - so almost subconsciously moved it further away. Which helped
Then thought, "Ohhhhh, shit! It's the beginning of the end"
Yep, eyes now worse than 18 months ago and £69 for two new pairs of glasses, plus a tenner for the test itself.
Weirdly, it was cheaper buying new ones than having new lenses in the old frames
Must be a fair bit different to the old prescription, too, because with the old ones if I looked up everything was pretty much on focus. With the new ones, close up is perfect and distance is blurry |

My optician told me I have the eyes of a fighter pilot. Every time I remind Mr ABC of this, he rolls his eyes at me and I have to remind him that my perfect vision allows me to notice him doing this |

Good for you. Ever since I had to start using reading glasses my eyesight has gone down hill. I now wear glasses on a permanent basis.
Although my mum would say my eyesight got worse for another reason.
Hopefully there won’t be fabbers on here that says “no glasses” or else I’m fucked (or not).

Get the glasses it will slow down the deteriation the harder your eyes are working to focus correctly the quicker they'll deteriate, and they make you look inteligent, which is something i need all the help i can get with |

I’ve got terrible eyesight
So regular checks are the norm for me, 6 monthly because I wear contact lenses.
Sometimes I forget how blind I am until I take my lenses out and realise I can’t see a thing!

Here's a question for you.
You know that awful glaucoma test where they blow air at your eyeball? I always flinch and apparently everyone else does too, unless you're a contact wearer.
I've been told that sticking your finger in your eye every day desensitises the eyeball. Is that true? |

I went recently (this is George). My eyes still better than 20/20, but I will need glasses for reading within in about five years. I guess they are slowly fading. But still nobody can tell me definitively what colour they are. Ailsa swears they change depending on the light |

Actually the optician said that if i need to do any close up work i can just take my glasses off. I like that option, much cheaper.
So, all perving on Fab is done sans spectacles. Just thought you all might like to know. |

I live in the middle distance. Everything is great in the middle distance. I have my here and there glasses coz I can’t see right here properly or over there either. It results in me stopping wrong busses and sometimes wagons.
Went to a gig once embraced someone wildly only to be told no that’s not our son.

I still flinch.
It doesn’t feel like I’m sticking my finger in my eye though, especially as I don’t like doing the ‘pinch’ to removed my lenses, I moved it across my eye into the corner and get it out that way- so no eye poking for me |

Also, I never wanted lenses as the idea grossed me out and I wasn’t keen on putting things in my eyes, and was happy just wearing glasses, but it got to the point where I didn’t want to wear glasses in clubs and then I couldn’t bloody see anyone there unless they were right in front of my face |

I have a degenerative condition, I've gone from perfect sight to being classed vision impaired in under 10yrs.
I can still drive, as wear glasses, but I have no idea just how long I'll have til I loose my sight fully |

Why eyesight is definitely getting worse. Have had glasses for close to 10 years now, actually should have been using them long before.
As soon as I put them on I was like "ohhhhh shit, I really did need glasses". Without them everything is just a blur. |

My eye sight has changed significantly 3 times this year! So that would have been 3 sets of glasses and contact lenses. Off to the docs to check with him. Loss of sight would be the worst thing to happen to me, disability I'm ok with, dementia well I wouldn't know, but going blind would restrict me so much. |

I hope it's nothing serious, i can't think of many things worse than blindness. |

Summer 2017 I discovered I had cataracts in my right eye. Operated on and a quick recovery. 6 months ago they operated on my left eye. It went wrong, it's not nice hearing discussions about stemming bleeding but that's way more preferable to when there's a discussion about anaesthesia wearing off mid procedure... Slow recovery from that one (almost a month off work as vision to poor to read for any length of time) but it's okayish now.
Sunday I pick up my new glasses, my short term vision is so fucked that I need what I think they said were office-varifocals. Basically the lenses I need to read my laptop are significantly different to those I need to read a book so that's a few hundred quid I wasn't expecting.
Still my eyes are still one of my best features. They say they are the keyhole to the soul, looking good but a bit of a fucking mess beneath the surface seems apt! |

Also, before someone says it '- yes I know I'm young to have had cataracts |

Aw no it will be OK! I love glasses but I swear your eyesight gets even worse when you wear them once you take them off you're bloody blind o.O
I've got really crappy eyesight! I've had glasses since I was around 15 but I did need them much sooner than that. |

Eye test two months ago due to parental eye issues, all clear for what they have but turns out I need reading glasses for my left eye only. Still haven’t picked them up, maybe when my arm can’t stretch any further to see |

I have been wearing glasses since I was a child and have very poor eyesight, so I get my eyes checked regularly.
Sadly, I will soon need bi-focals. One of the many joys of aging
No idea why people would object to having glasses. |

Me, too. Lost vision in my right eye 9 years ago, ticking time bomb in my left.
Get your eyes checked regularly, everyone, and get the glasses, OP! You never know when you might regret taking it for granted |

Yeah I always had better than 20:20 vision.
My distance vision has always been great, but since I got over 40 my near vision has deteriorated and now I need readers for anything within arms length.
Distance vision still awesome. |
