Somewhere In The Ether…

You all remember Joe Esposito’s classic and rousing song from the original, The Karate Kid, right?

Yes, I can even hear you all singing it right now!

Doesn’t just listening to it make you feel utterly invincible?

....In fact doesn’t it just make you want to immediately enter a karate tournament and kick some stereotypical, sneering, bleached haired, nineteen-eighties villains’ arse?

Good, good!

Now.....name me some more motivational music that invokes a similar feeling of utter awesomeness.

Off you go

Hell yes! Remember the golden rule also: The hero will always get his arse kicked around in the final fight.....until the eighties synth soundtrack kicks in!

Mr Miyagi was wise indeed. And he has lovely decking, fencing and beautifully polished cars to boot

Ah ha! Yes - Danger Zone! Whenever I hear that, I’m just itching to climb into an F-14 Tomcat and blow some shit up!

....Unfortunately I don’t know how to fly one but I can just imagine that it would feel awesome!

Another one: Fans of Bloodsport with Jean Claude Van Damme will doubtless remember the highly manly, ‘Fight To Survive’.

Yes? Shit, I grow a full on, spontaneous beard and a develop a monumental erection whenever I hear that!

I’m not alone in this, right?

Er......

Survivor! Yes indeed! That riff! The video was cool to, the band members strutting down the street as though they were about to enter a particularly vicious street brawl. Manly stuff!

Do you remember the bit in Parr’s classic song where he does that manly, ‘Ooo ooo ooo ooooeeerrr!’ ? Damn, singers today have all but lost this balls out eighties manliness (and the mullets to)

The Rocky theme is quite possibly the pinnacle of motivational music A mere listen to the opening bars and I feel that I could go the distance with Tyson Fury.

....Then I come back to reality....

That’s the spirit! I hope that you gave those Cobra Kai students a royal arse kicking and rendered Sensei John Kreese unemployed as a result?
