Ok, so you might think it's odd posting this at the end of the season but if you're thinking of replacing your old machine now's a good time to start.
For a long time i'd always been a Hayter man but was converted on recommendation by my local supplier to Honda.
After more than 10 years of faithful sevice i recently bought the same HRX476QXE, roller mower with the rotostop feature (you can stop the blades but keep the engine running), it has a 19" cut and a large grass box so it makes cutting medium to large lawns a dream. More impressive than that, it rained here half an hour ago and it's still cutting and collecting like nothing happened. Admittedly i didn't get much change out of a grand but it's with every penny. Go check it out. |

"Thanks for the advice.
I take it that your lawn is rather large
I don't have a lawn.
Your not right but love it "
When it comes to horticulture i think you'll find i'm always right. |

I'm a estate gardener, small gardens don't do it for me.
I like big, rampant overgrown gardens i can really get my teeth into. |

"Honda engines are hard to beat. They are expensive but they are hardy and trouble free.
Easy started and just keep on going.
"
Yes, it was a shame i had to get rid of the old one. After more than 10 years of hard graft the engine was still good. |

I Can agree with Honda being the best, I was given a really old machine mower and only lasted a year due to itbhitting a scaffold coupling hidden in long grass. I was mortified and so was the mower. I now have a briggs and stratton Masport ad it been great. So as long as you choose a machine with either a Honda or Briggs engine either one of those will outlast the mower chassis, just remember to prod in any tall growth for the unseen, including scaffold pieces or poo. |
