Death Vadar, Dracula, Freddy Kreuger, Cyrus The Virus (from Con Air) - so many to choose from!
In fact the villains are frequently more interesting than the heroes (take Guy Pearce’s snide bad guy in, The Count Of Monte Christo who had far more charisma than the titular hero as a prime example) ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Alan Rickman in Die Hard 1. Also as the crazed Sheriff of Nottingham in Costner's Robin Hood.
Olivier as the Nazi dentist in Marathon Man
And no thread like this would be complete without a mention for Richard Keil as Jaws in the Bond films..

Ooh, that might be interesting If it's done well.
And it's interesting for me on a personal level as, according to the book, Danny was 8 in March 1981 and so was I ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"The Truck in Duel
I had to look that up.... now added to the watch list "
Excellent - glad to have provided inspiration **doffs hat in the lady's direction**
It was an American TV movie, which means there were a couple of scenes shoehorned in to bring the running time up to 89 mins, so that it could get a European cinematic release, and these scenes drag a bit and ruin the pacing.
But it's great overall. AND it was Steven Spielberg's debut behind the camera ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |

The shark in Jaws - what a fantastic performance!
Typically though, being a child star, his life subsequently spiralled completely down the swanny as can be clearly evidenced by his utterly dreadful, lazy and presumably drink/drug fuelled sleep walk of a performance in the utterly risible Jaws 4.
Hell, even Michael Caine was seen making a protesting comment about having to work with such an unprofessional actor and additionally about his breath (stinking of booze no doubt!) in the film itself! |

Sir Lawrence Olivier was utterly unnerving in that movie..... ‘Is it safe?’ *drill*
Also can I add Joe Peschi’s downright scary mobster in Good Fellas - utterly unhinged. |

That could be good as long as it’s not the new way of doing movies and everything in your face rather than left to the imagination |

"Alan rickman in robin hood prince of thieves.
The sheer callousness of the warden in the shawshank redemption.
Kevin spacey's in se7en
White Goodman in dodgeball
Salma Hayek in dusk til dawn"
For me a warden character is Gary Oldman playing Milton Glenn from Murder in the First.... great true story |

The next generation took up the mantel... the pure cheek of one taking Samuel L Jackson out from behind, mid speech, in Deep Blue Sea |

Oof... There are so many!
The best films often have great and complex bad guys, some you love to hate, some are complex and you almost agree with them and some are just pure evil.
Heath Ledgers Joker,
Darth Vader,
Thanos,
Kevin Spacey in Se7en,
Alan Rickman in Die Hard & Robin Hood (although pretty much any villain role he played)
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
...
I could do this all day

"Skeletor okay not a movie but he was evil!! "
And Mumm-Ra from Thundercats
He was an all out, salivating, shrieking looney! I still can’t work out what his gripe was with Lion O and the gang other than that they built their fortress next to him without proper planning permission ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

Kathy Bates in Misery.
Gary Oldman in Léon.
James Gandolfini in True Romance.
Christopher Waltz in Inglorious Basterds.

That's my list too pretty much. Bardem is bloody fearsome. |

Yes it was a movie. Skeletor was played by Jack Palance.
My son was about seven at the time and pestered me until I took him to see it.
Torture for me but he loved it. |

Another villain who scarred the absolute shit out of me as a child:
Dr. Frank-N-Furter as played by Tim Curry in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
.....and Pennywise The Clown from Stephen King’s, IT - as played by Tim Curry.
.....and Darkness, from Ridley Scott’s, Legend as played by Tim Curry.
Hell even the evil character Tim Curry played in the original, Annie was damned scary!
In summary - Tim Curry IS bloody scary! ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

Voltan! I love that movie! (the folk/disco soundtrack was utterly demented as was the glowing ping-pong ball-flurry-filled-finale!) ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Hannibal Lecter gets my vote. There was something about him that I kind of respected in a strange way, that those he "took care of" were those that were a danger to society.
He wanted people to face their fears, their inner demons and grow to reach their full potential. Twisted motherfucker with almost a good intention.
My other that I adore is Sweeney Todd.

There and to the left a bit |
Some good calls already - particularly Hannibal Lecter...couple more off the top of my head:
Nicholson's Joker in Batman - set the standard for those that followed
William Strannix (Tommy Lee Jones) in Under Siege - magnificently maniacal
Goldfinger in Goldfinger |

"There’s been a few women mentioned, but for me it’s Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction, that’s one crazy lady !

Oh mention of Glenn Close reminded me of another of hers - she was magnificent as Cruella De Vil in the live action 101 Dalmatians - totally over the top pantomime part but very good all the same |

I see why the leathery face might be a sticking point, but Skeletor was played by Frank Langella in Masters of the Universe.
I’m going to stick my 2p in for Dan Aykroyd as Grocer in Grosse Pointe Blank |
