I'm 55 miles from my destination and my car says I've 50 miles left in the tank!

Bearing in mind the price of fuel at service stations - what do you reckon?

Bottle it and bite the bullet or slow down and eke out every drop?

"pick up a hitch hiker and borra a fiver."

Sadly none in site! Currently doing 55 in the slow lane and irritating truckers galore!

Revenge is sweet!

I used to stick just a couple of gallons in when travelling with low fuel and just out of range from home.

Better than running out and causing choas on the motorway

Lets hope that you don't crash into one of the 'truckers' whilst you are sending messages, via your phone, whilst driving!

If you drop down to 50, reach over to the glove box, locate yer Manual, put yer reading lamp on you should be able to determine how much reserve your tank holds.

So if you put say 10 litres in you're spending an extra £1 and you want to risk running out

not a good idea to run the fuel down in the tank to zero as you will be dragging all the crap in your tank through your cars injectors and they cost lots of cash to fix.stick 20 quid in it

Sorry for delay updating! Was stood on verge on M4 trying to order a delivery of unleaded!

(Actually that's a lie - was stuck on a particularly hard level of angry birds and too stubborn to quit until completed!)

Very wise words from all - I'd pass them in to the rust bucket driving muppet - but since I don't do Facebook and he's unaware of my other 'social life' - he'd probably ask where all the advice was coming from!

His car, his empty fuel tank - and he's adamant we'll make it!

Right - back to those angry birds!!

Ps Nice of you selling your car (OP) to your mate before it ran out of fuel.

A decent mate would have at least put enough fuel in to see him home.

Lol - used 'my' as a force of habit! No way I'm selling him mine! Besides - as it's a company car anyway think a P45 would swiftly follow!

And yes - I was wearing socks whilst posting - I know - very bad form and unforgivable! Now bent over and awaiting the imminent thrashing due!
