The British eurovision organisers have finally cottoned on to the fact that we'll never win it again until we have an act just as cheesy as the rest of Europe, so, in their infinite wisdom they've selected Englebert Humperdink as the UK entry for this year.
Oh well, he's better than that group of plastic thunderbirds/air cabin crew we had the other year... or that failed Pop Idol wannabe Andy whoever. |

Call me cynical, but Mr Humperdink has a massive fan base in Eastern Europe, and seeing as we don't usually get any points from those countries, maybe the penny has just dropped |

"The H:Dogg will win it hands down.
A master stroke from the BBC who chose him.
Wee is running down my legs at H:Dogg!!"
LOL I would imagine that is pretty much what happened to the H:Dogg when he was asked to take part. But I bet wee is running down his legs most days. |

I can't see old Englebert whipping his trousers off a la Bucks Fizz though. I remember watching when Bucks Fizz did that and I remember thinking, "Ey up, this just got interesting!" |

I think we're looking at this the wrong way. Anyone remember a few years ago when Lordi won it(by a landslide iirc)? They won because of the fact that in a competition full of cheesy pop acts, they entered as a heavy rock(albeit cheesy) act. I don't think we necessarily need to out-cheese the opposition, so much as do something different |

I thought Eurovision was now won by those countries with voting 'neighbours'?
If Britain really want to win, put Take That in because everyone in the competition now seems to be professional singers |

Weren't they always professional singers, often world renowned singers at that?
