"Who has been to Dubai before and what do they think "
Its hot and sweaty, there is no shade, like ANYWHERE, you will jump from air conditioned building to air conditioned building, all of the food is imported, so be careful what you eat, you can drink in hotel bars (which are full of hookers, DON'T sleep with the hookers, they have laws)...
I use to go back there for RnR every 4 weeks for 4 days, to be honest chap, its a city in the desert, erm and its hot. |

"You’re better going to Abu Dhabi or Turkey.
Either way you'll get stoned to death. I'd stay well away."
My advice would be don't take advice from this guy ^^^^^ |

The right place |
It’s an interesting place to visit. Worth seeing once. But as others have said it’s very hot and you spend most of your time in air conditioned buildings. It is a city in the desert and it doesn’t really have much history, it feels a bit fake. Just my view though. |

"Nice and modern - however the only part that I really love is the boat ride (Abra) along the river.
The rest are pretty standard - big buildings, shopping malls, hotels, etc.
"
Abra ride is fun. Lots of different views of Dubai |

Been twice, once on holiday... the next time stayed in between flights to Australia.
I didnt like it, its just brash and all about wealth. No history, no character, nothing but sun & sand really.... and if i want sun and sand id go to the Caribbean.

"Nice hot plenty to do plenty to eat can be expensive otherwise great and 1 of the safest cities in the world."
One of the safest but only because of the draconian laws that can put you away for the slightest infraction.
Public displays of affection are frowned upon if not illegal and as a woman I would never visit a country that prosecutes and jails victims of rap.e.
Given the place has little to no history I dont really see the appeal.

I live here and it's a fantastic place, it's a party town with a great _cene. The stories you read in the newspapers have another side to them that the bias papers don't print. It has some old Islamic laws but I've never seen any of them enforcement, especially the public displays of affection, you should see it in Barasti on a Friday night! |

Hi. I am hoping to go with friends about to book our flights. Staying 6 nights. Is this too long. 26th sept. Would it be too hot. The hotel is the Atana. They offer a shuttle service and has some good reviews
Id really welcome your input |

Atana is very nice it's in Tecom so lots of good bars and restaurants around. You are also close to the metro which is a good way to get about. End of September it will cooler and beach weather and no 6 days is not enough ?? |

Dubai: plastic fantastic!
Well not so fantastic !
If huge shopping malls, over priced shopping and f&b are your thing then it’s perfect.
Lived here for 15 years. It’s not a strict Muslim country by KSA standards so you can relax have a few drinks and hit the beach ( not between June - Sept 45c+) . Night clubs / bars are ok too many hookers and overpriced.
Long story short - if it’s snowing in England then 3 days in Dubai will be fab. Otherwise I’d choose almost any country over Dubai for a holiday .
The only exception is Dubai Rugby Sevens which is an epic weekend of rugby and partying |
