Personally love 80s horror so it's either John Carpenter's the thing or A nightmare on elm Street 3 dream warriors.

Hellraiser 2 was the best one.

After number 4 they go straight to VHS or dvd and get progressively worse.

Only decent horror film after the 80's was Ringu.

If was remade for American audiences as The Ring and loses a lot in translation.

Yes however it depends what you expect from the sequels. usually its just more of the same or there is some story continuation so you know where you stand with the universe's. But Hellraiser gets so bad the writers totally destroy all mythology and they are unrecognisable as Hellrasier films.

One film that disturbed me so much that I couldn’t watch it was that old black and white one- Freaks

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

If you like me horror I really would recommend Ringu, Rasen, and Ring 2. The Ring 2 is a remake of Rasen. There are more after but not necessary to watch.

They are Japanese made so they are subtitled. It's typical Japanese horror but it works. The mythology is fleshed out well in the sequels.

They were rehashed as "The Grudge" films and there are some recent spin offs.

Yeah it's bizzare. They were real freaks/physically challenged.

The ending is really fucked up.

Halloween (1978). Not particularly horrific but that's one of its many strengths. Best theme tune for any horror film, too.

Never really scared during films, except paranormal activity, that film is freaky deaky

Check out The Vanishing, a Dutch film (Do not watch the remake) you could just claim it’s a thriller but for me it’s a horror film.

The Blair Witch, contentious with some but it really hit home for me.

Audition or Martyrs both make Hostel look tame.

Obviously J Horror

When it comes to classics

Exorcist

The Wicker Man

The Fly both versions

Alien

I could spend hours as it’s my favourite genre
