The first person I ever met on Fab made dinner for me one evening and as I’d never seen it and he said he wanted to watch me watch it, put on WALL·E. I remember sitting back curled up in his arms and being totally immersed in it. I may have shed a little tear.

Ah that's such a brilliant, insightful and emotive film. Plus the little OCD cleaning robot had me in fits of laughter |

The best non-animated is without a doubt The Straight Story, directed by David Lynch and starting the wonderful Richard Farnsworth, who I have loved ever since he played Matthew in the televised version of Anne of Green Gables of my youth that starred Megan Follows as Anne.
The Straight Story is one of the most beautifully moving and gentle movies I’ve ever watched. The soundtrack is by Angelo Badalamenti who did the score for Twin Peaks.
Watch this movie!!

And the film is made more poignant by this:
Richard Farnsworth was terminally ill with metastatic prostate cancer during the shooting of the film, which had spread to his bones and caused the paralysis of his legs as shown in the film. He actually took the role out of admiration for Alvin Straight, and astonished his co-workers with his tenacity during production. Farnsworth committed suicide the following year, at the age of 80. |

I can't say in all honesty it's my favourite Lynch movie but I'm pleased it brought him some mainstream success |

It’s one of his few linear movies (The Elephant Man being another) and was based on a true story. It’s not his typical surreal Lynchian stuff (which I adore too) - although I’d say those rather than this one probably bring him more acclaim and mainstream success and are what he’s known for. |
