It's not wrong. It is listening. The thin end of the wedge is a non sentient machine referring to itself in the first person and claiming it can hear you.

Our Alexa does this. Just pipes up occasionally for a wee chat

They not only listen, they record your conversations. Apparently in order to improve their word and command recognition...hmm really?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but Alexa, Google, Siri and everything else designed to make our lives easier listen to everything so that it can be triggered when you call their name.

Somewhere buried in the terms and conditions that no one ever reads you give permission for it to do so. Unless you actively turn everything off, your entire search history, preferences and fuck know what else is stored to "improve the product"

Thats why I don't have anything voice activated and browse fab using Puffin browser.

We leak information everywhere!

Yep, not only do we all willingly carry tracking devices around with us, we are now happy to install listening in devices into our homes...

Big Brother is watching you...

I was listening to a radio programme about Siri/Alexa last week. They do listen and disseminate into algorithms.... a lot more than you think scary!!!

This is one innovation I won't be taking advantage of! Far too intrusive and a bit too much like Hal in 2001!

They’re always listening

Along with the Amazon staff for Alexa, analysing data to make “her” more responsive.

I've friends who have them. It's more a novelty and new party talk subject than improvement of any form of existence.

Was hard enough teaching my kids to respond, why do I want to start that again.

I'm like Lily no mates so at least Alexa gives me someone/something to interact with and it does make me laugh sometimes.

You csn actually listen to what alexa keeps to review it.

Its shocking just how horrible/non human the computer interpretation of your voice is.

Its not like a recording its more like the minimum key data point its needs to get speech. Sound like a bad horror movie extra.

But meh im not really concerned by comercial use of information. Amazon can't arrest me

"I don't even see how it can improve my existence, can someone who loves theirs please tell me what's so amazing about them. "

As a radio/alarm clock they're great.

For other things not much use except maybe the weather.

But it can be handy for doing things like maths when cooking and you csnt touch your phone "alexa whats "30x14 plus 40" etc

So another gaget to replace what your phone already does?

I use speech and voice recognition my phone already. Ask google search for different things, have an alarm, I've a few old ones lying around to .

No seriously what additional things can it do?
