"Yes, left me with an astounding meh feeling. At least the SW films are going on hiatus after this one for a bit
Same the Last Jedi was rubbish.
Thank god for Rogue One that was a decent film! "
rogue one was awful, that robot and the poor cgi on cushing ruined that movie |

Stupidly I'm excited...I was for the last 2 numbered sequels too and they were a bitter disappointment! Rogue 1 has been my favourite so far but these new ones? Meh is definitely the word for them.
This one? A bloody shite name for a film but that Palp cackle did make me genuinely sit up and start to over-hype this one way too much! |

I know one thing for certain.
The people who are making the trailers are doing an AMAZING job. Making what are pretty disappointing movies look like the greatest movie ever shown. |

"I call palpatine is a force ghost ...no reason why he can’t be "
Sith can’t comeback as Force Ghosts supposedly but as he was the apprentice of Darth Plaguis and learnt how to stop people dying etc I guess that’s one way of bringing him back!

I agree. Thanks to The Last Jedi, I never bothered with 'Solo' |

He wasn’t Sith when he died as he was redeemed and on the light side of the force again |

Ep 08: Forget everything, let go of the past.
Ep 09: Calls itself 'The Rise of Skywalker' and brings back Palpatine in some way.
Much back peddling I sense, desperate to get people to like Star Wars Disney is...
I've very low expectations on this film being any good. At least I can only be pleasantly surprised. |

Films haven't been great tbh. I have enjoyed them but not fallen in love with them.
I think R1 was the best by far of the new ones. Solo was good and left me wanting more. Filled in some gaps.
Looking forward to next Clone Wars series as well.
Biggest problem for me is that there are some great books out there. They can't use them. |

I thought that at first, but then The Dark Tower came out and that cherry picked just the right components out of 7 very messy books and streamlined it into a very simple, classic fantasy story. That is what Disney should have done instead of badly rehashing A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. |

I'm going to take something of an unpopular stance here.
I watched ep7 and 8 with my kids, for them it was everything that star wars was to me as a child; frightening, magical and wonderous. I viewed them through their eyes and enjoyed them as the films they are. In the history of the canon, they're not great but they're a hell of a lot better than the dross that the prequels were.
I'll be viewing the last installment with them again and living it through the eyes of children, that's who these films are aimed at |

I've always defended the prequels - equally controversial - but I think they were a lot of fun, just too much CG, to the point of almost feeling like a cartoon. People who said they were just kids films seem to forget the first 3 were kids films too. |

That's kind of my point, the difference is that we've all grown up and are expecting adult content from children's films.
I don't think these films would ever have pleased the purists. JJ Abrams did the best thing that he could've done, he pitched it where the originals were aimed; the hearts and minds of children |

I think they just don't have the rights to them. Hence returned Star Wars Legends. |

They have the rights, they just had no way of picking up where 120+ novels left off. There'd be a mass of back story and characters that the casual fans wouldn't know, so they just scrapped it all and started again. It pissed off all the fans who'd read all the books, myself included but I could see the logic. |

Oh that is correct! Such a shame. Rogue Squadron is a ready made series. Or good enough for stand alone film. So many other good characters and stories as well. |

Yep, there's so much to work with, the idea of the Emperor's Hand, maybe one or several of Palatine's Force sensitive spies in a revenge plot against Luke, Han and Leia - could still have killed Han that way if Harrison Ford insisted on it, or something similar to "Truce at Bakura", to combine the Republic and Empire, but swap out the Lizard aliens for the Chiss or the Yusong Vong, or have groups of leaderless Imperial ships throwing their lot in with criminal gangs like the Hutts or the Black Sun's.
Anything original would have been better than what we got. |

The new ones havent gripped me at all "
Totally agree with you, Jar Jar wasn't the problem, he was just a part of the whole "too much CG" problem. |

Fuck Disney
Fuck Jar Jar Abrahms
Fuck Kathleen Kennedy
Double Fuck Rian Johnson
Star Wars 7 I didn't like, I have no words for 8.
The off shoots were ok.
Needs a reboot from 7 onwards with George Lucas writing the story. |

Saw the trailer and loved it!
I loved Episodes 7 and 8 too. Also loved Solo and Rogue One.
I think Ep 9 will be good and can't wait to see it!
I think people are unnecessarily harsh on the newer Star Wars films. It was said earlier that they were designed to be kids films and I think the majority of us saw them as kids and so have a dear place in our hearts (if we liked them as kids). Therefore, nothing done by any film maker will be 'good enough' for that child that saw the films all that time ago.
Everyone seems to think they can do better and are Star Wars experts. I say just enjoy the films. This is going to be the last film for a while. Oh, and enjoy the upcoming Star Wars toys and merch too |

No.
Does it add any new dimension to SW franchise, other than the opportunity for Disney to licence a new range of toys?
I'm guessing that the plot runs along the lines of:
Evil Empire attacks rebels with new weapon that is / can destroy planet
Robot escapes with Jedi trainee / potential Jedi
Chase through space and asteroids
Arrive on new planet to make contact with rebel command
Bar scene with lots of potential for marketable creatures
Evil Empire grabs robot and Jedi trainee / potential Jedi
Transported to secret base / monster planet / giant ship
Rebels rescue robot and Jedi trainee / potential Jedi in audacious raid disguised as Evil Empire troops
Millenium Falcon escapes pursuing Evil Empire ships attempting to recapture robot and Jedi trainee / potential Jedi in space chase involving asteroids and red / blue energy weapons
Rebel commanders download plans for Evil Empire new weapon that is / can destroy planet
Plans reveal hidden flaw in new weapon that is / can destroy planet
rebels launch raid on new weapon that is / can destroy planet
Space battle with red and blue energy weapons
New weapon that is / can destroy planet is destroyed by heroic rebel ships that enter the new weapon that is / can destroy planet via a shaft
Rebel ships return to base
Triumphant music and the rebels enjoy tea, toast and medals
Children want new SW toys

I was in work when it was released and to say my friend thought I looked like a giddy child after watching it.
I love everything Star Wars I have never been disappointed by a movie, cartoon, manga or book.
So bring on December for this ride of skywalker |
