Pork scratchings....
Jump to: Newest in thread
I bloody love a bag of sctratchings. I don't care how unsexy I look chomping and crunching whilst sat at a bar...no stopping till the last one munched and the bag is licked.
My chap bought me a bag from the US when he returned from a trip last week. They are called pork rinds with the tag line 'pork rind with attached skin'...delightful description. But horror of horrors...they were unsalted!!
Yes...UK scratchings are a gift from god. My vegan daughter is not impressed.

You're all welcome at my place for the best scratching and a drink.
They are the work of the devil though. I broke a tooth on one and had to pay to have it taken out. Also had to get over my fear of the dentist!! |

Piggy eczema,mmmm.
Shop bought ones are rubbish.
Corby butchers put on too much salt, that's saying something.
The butchers in skeggy, in the shopping centre sell it whilst it's hot and sticky. Now that's nectar!!! |

Love 'em. Black Country ones usually the best.
The one thing that annoys me about scratchings is the fact the quality is often a bit variable. There's definitely an ideal skin to fat ratio and a lot of producers don't follow it.
Fans of pork scratchings who pop over to France should investigate 'grattons de canard" from the deli section of the local supermarket. Yes, you guessed it, Duck Scratchings! Delicious served warm with a few drinks... |

"When does crackling become a scratching? Is it a temperature thing ?"
As far as I understand, scratchings are deep-fried, crackling is roasted and usually attached to a joint of meat or hog roast etc |

Oh duck scratching sound amazing!
I've had deep fried chicken skin in a restaurant once , that was good.

"We sell them straight out of the rotisserie
Send me a truck load
Would you eat them straight from the truck like Homer, or tip them into a bowl?"
I would stand on the back of the truck and just swam dive into them |

Had a relation come to England for the first time a few years ago. He always wanted to go to a pub. Took him to my local as you do and introduced him to 'pork scratchings'. Now, whenever I fly back and ask what he wants he just says 'bring a few bags of that pork scratchings'hahahaha
Fine by me
