Who has to do them?

I have to submit over 20 pieces of evidence by mid March 2012!

Not that I have not done any in the past few years, as I love to learn and am forever learning.

However, I am no good at documenting the buggers down as evidence!

Hey ho, the joy of being a professional!

Done mine a couple of weeks ago.

Easy for me though, I've got something special on this year and it's counted towards about half of mine.

I'm dreading my "summons"; hopefully as long as I continue to pay my fees promptly I'll be on the good list!

It has become mandatory for my profession recently, and it is the first time a lot of my peers have been called to submit their evidence, so many of us are in the same boat.

It is no longer the case of so long as I pay my retention fee on time, I can keep the letters after my name for another year.

we do seminars where company reps come and show us new products and we use them to become cheaper, more environmentally friendly, more efficient, quicker etc engineers

we do it in our lunch so my company buys our lunch from a fancy deli to make up for us losing an hour

I have to do it for two professional bodies, and supervise / deliver it for others.

The documentation is crazy - especially as so many professional bodies are so bad at record keeping and managing anythign that even remotely resembles a DLE, or even a database.......

Bummer!

I forgot my login details, which means I cannot start entering mine online!

New login details in the post.

I am going to request for an extension on the deadline.

Better start writing the evidence down while I can remember them.

Wonders how CPD for swingers would look like, and would the verifications be the necessary evidence? Big relational database, eh?;-)

We have them in work...like a lot of 'initiatives' they are often started, spoken about in seminars and then forgotten about for a year or so until you have to provide evidence..update meets, standardisation meeting, trade shows/events committee meetings if you are a member of an association can all be used..

Personally I think CPD'S are a load of bollocks..they mean nothing.

I kind of agree with you when it's ones set by work, it's just another thing to hang over your head. But when it's required for membership of an organisation you need in order to practice, I guess it's slightly different. Still a ball ache either way tho!

We have CDP's (career development plan). Don't HAVE to do them but are encouraged to have one. Useful if you have a career plan in mind but if you are happy in just doing your job well, it's pointless. However we are pushed to develop ourselves so most of us tow the line.... just. We have to evidence our 1-2-1s every quarter too which is like filling in an application form half the time.

CPD for me means pay rises, but mine are through qualifications and courses, which the company pay for anyway

yep, have to do them. try my best to keep a log but doing that CPD stuff everywhere, everyday, bloody system is mad.

Everything has to be evidenced these days. Evidence of meetings, evidence of planning, evidence of evaluation and review, evidence of progress, evidence of action taken to bla bla bla.

I find it overload and totally demoralising.

It looks good and helps smooth the way if an organisation are going for IIP status

a Primark shoebox in Leicester

I’ve been completing CPD stuff for so long it all seems a piece of piss now it’s done online… god I remember the days of doing it on paper and sending it off in the post.

I fill in a couple of things at the end of every month and by the end of year, all I have to check is that all the cycles are complete.
