What's for dinner Sat 28 Jan 12?

Jump to: Newest in thread

I am going to attempt making a pasta bake using a single portion enamel pie dish in my new stove top oven that I bought for camping.

It will be a test to see how good it is, as I would love to have toad in a hole while camping.

What is everyone having for dinner tonight?

Been snacking on carrots and hummus all day, surprisingly filling stuff, so just a quick slice of toast to soak up the drink tonight will do for me.

Haven't got any appetite at the moment. In the last 3 days I've had 3 bowls of porridge, 4 rounds of toast and 2 snickers bars.

I'm still suffering from manflu

Glad I experimented with the new oven first before go camping it!

On first use, the lid fitted so tightly to the pan during warm up that I had difficulties in opening it

I had to let it cool down first before re-warming it with the lid slightly ajar.

Hence it took nearly twice as long to make a pasta bake.

However, the result was surprisingly good, and I managed to get a bit of browning on the top as I had left the lid ajar during cooking.

Can't wait to try making toad in a hole while camping with it!
